Lip Sync Issue with New Sharp 80" TV

Well, I pulled the trigger with the new Sharp LC-80LE632U, 80" TV. Got it wall mounted in the theater area and making tweaks in the picture settings. One issue I'm having is lip sync. I'm assuming the video single takes longer to go through the circuitry in a TV this size? So the sound is ahead of the video. I run all HDMI and the feed from the bluray player and satellite box goes through the SC07. Unfortunately, the SC07 does not have a lip sync adjustment and the Sharp TV doesn't either. It is pretty noticeable and distracting. Am I missing something? Anything I can do? Thanks

I don't own a Pioneer AVR, but I was surprised to read that it didn't have a lip synch adjustment, so I googled "SC-07 lip synch". Evidently, it does have that feature. You should look it up, too. Do you have a manual?

I had the same problem with my LG 55LW5600... I ran everything through receiver. What I did to fix the problem was run the cable box HDMI to the TV and run an optical cable from the TV's audio out into the receiver. There was no other way I could get the lips to sync. It works perfectly now.. best of luck.

See page 97 in your manual Pioneer calls it Auto delay, which is normally set to off. Try turning it on as it automatically corrects video to audio delay over HDMI. It may be what your looking for. The manual also states how to make manual adjustments found on page 96 under Delay. Congrats on the 80 incher though bro, what made you go screen over a projector? Just wondering your thoughts. Hope this helps you.

Seems common in Sharp sets. I have this with my Quattron. The Pioneer's have the delay option under the "Sound Options", not the Video options. I do find that this is not the case with EVERY channel.

Also, this could be caused by the AVR converting the video internally unless this is disabled.

Keep note, the Sharp sets (unless RECENTLY changed) do NOT put out anything more then stereo through the optical out. No DTS or anything. :(

I'll give the "Auto Delay" covered on page 97 a try this weekend. I missed that when I was searching the manual. Thanks for pointing this out.

Sheradp - the reason I went with the 80" Sharp vs. projector is because I'm limited on wall space and ceiling height in my theater area. The largest screen I could use is probably no more than 90", and that would be pushing it. The 80" actuals fits nicely. Along with the fact that this a multi-purpose area, which a projector is not ideal for, the 80" LCD seemed to be the best solution to get as big as possible screen. I have 60 days to trial it and still be able to return it with no charge, so I figured why not. I'm not completely impressed with the picture quality, so I continue to play with the picture adjustments. Hopefully I can find a sweet spot without a professional calibration, so I can make a final decision. I know to make a set this big and sell it for reasonable amount of money, there were sacrficies made. Besides all this, I got a great price from BB. I made a low ball offer as I was walking away during negotiating figuring that would end it and instead they came within a couple bucks of meeting it. Maybe I should have gone even lower..... I'll post some pics this weekend.

Took me a while to get the color I wanted from my Sharp set. How's the clouding on the new sets? Have they vastly improved? I got lucky with my 920 series set... The 810/820 series sets were the worst.

I have not noticed any clouding. Of course now that you brought that up, I will have to look for it......

It's amazing your having this issue , I have not experienced this in probably 10 years. If everything is HDMI to the receiver and monitor out to the TV, I don't see how their can be an issue unless your cable signal is weak. I'd also look into having them come out and test your signal strength at your box.

On a side not , how is that Sharp? 80 inch is just badass.

Negative! If the room permits I would take the projector any day and go even larger. Even 92-96" of screen is huge. Imagine some of the screens we use here, 96-134" in full HD to add. Not to knock the OP in anyway just food for thought. If prices come down and I'm sure they will eventually, I can see a 110" LED on the wall. That too would qualify as bada$$.

After doing some internet research, I found the recommendation to turn off the DNR, which I did, and the pic quality is much better IMO. Detail is better. It seems like with the DNR, there was too much blurring of detail unless the image was stationary.

There is NO clouding that I can see in the screen.

The black level is great, however, its almost too good. Blacks seem to blend together without alot of detail.

Again, I would love to have an even bigger screen, but I just don't have the wall space. I can maybe go up to a 90", the screen would need to be off-center from the rest of the room and the lower edge would be border-line viewable from the back row without obstruction from the front row. This 80" fits perfect and seems to be a good solution.......

Sherardp - I'm putting those cables behind the wall, just haven't gotten around to it yet. I had them tied together initially to clean it up until I got around to cutting holes in the wall, but there seemed to be some degredation of the picture quality when I did that, so I separated them again. Both cables are decent quality, but must not be shielded enough for side by side use. May be time for another Pepster power cord in the family.....

I'm also planning on painting the ceiling flat black. Now that I've got that big screen, and its so close to the ceiling, there's quite a bit of light reflection off the current white ceiling. That project has been added to the Xmas vacation "To Do" list.

Another plus I've found to this set up was in the center channel. The previous set up, which is still viewable in the System Showcase, had the center channel in a cubby hole of the cabinet. Even though the cubby hole was straight through without a back, between the that and the big RPTV, there was lots of reverb and echo. I had quite a few ceiling panels behind the setup to help absorb the sound, which I never totally accomplished. Now, with the Csi A6 out in the open, the center channel sound is definately improved. I have it angled up slightly now since its below ear level, but I think I'm going to build a riser for it to sit on so I can get it right. And yes, that another project for the Xmas vacation.

BTW - still having lip sync problems. I found the Auto Delay in the SC07 menu and turned that on. Lip sync seems OK for signals from the Satellite, but still have issues with blurays. Very strange....

I have Lip Sync issues all the time with my Fios DVR.

I do this to fix it.

I quick rewind 4x back (10 seconds each time) then I quick forward once which is 30 seconds and the Lip sync problems goes away.

Hello all,

Just bought the sharp 60" smart tv. I hooked it up to my Polk audio sound bar and the audio is just barely ahead of the video. I've read a lot of things but can't seem to find the perfect fix for me. My soundboard is very basic with onli gain and channel adjustments.

Any advice on how to get the tv and soundboard to sync up?

That is a wonderful looking rig, congratulations. On lip sinc: just 2 nights ago I had a nasty almost 2 second sinc issue and after putting up with for several minutes I mentally retraced my steps of the preceding half hour or so. I remembered that I had used the fast forward, fast reverse, frame by frame back and forth about the time the lip sinc issue started. I just went fast forward for a few seconds and it was fixed. I was playing a blue ray...Transformers, and the remainder of the movie was without incident. Now...why at age 66 am I still watching movies about toys?
