Question I'm Running a dedicated 20 Amp Circuit for my system - Which Duplex Receptacle should

    I use?

I was going to use a PS Audio Power Port Premiere but it looks like to me that PSA is not selling them anymore.

I can see that they make them because are using them on the back of their devices but I can't find them for sale individually on their website.

There is one guy on the gon that has them for sale but he's from china and I don't trust it.

    What should I use?

    What do you use?

    Thanks,

    Sal

I just use the "spec grade" receps at H.Depot or Lowes. My gear would laugh at me if I plugged it into a $150.00 recep !!

I would like to hook up at least one more Duplex receptacle to the new 20A circuit so that I can plug in my PS Audio Noise Harvester to the new Circuit. So I guess this 2nd Receptacle really doesn't need to be another PPP?

I guess the Hubbell 8300I is a good choice for the second outlet and it's a good choice for my wallet! :)

Just tried different ones to see what worked best in my system.
That little piece just slides up to protect sides from anything coming in contact.

I have had some very nice ones in the past and found that the Furutechs work best for me.
I have two of the above and 1 of their copper receptacles for the LCD line.
Always been very happy with them.

Maybe I will get one of those Furutech's and then I can A/B it with the PSA PPP! :)

Or maybe I need one of these as well: http://www.revolutionpower.com/p/WAT...eceptacle/376/ then I can A/B/C the 3

The only problem i have with this scenario is that the incoming power from the new 20A circuit will flow through 2 of the new receptacles before getting to the 3rd one.

I guess I could hook up a junction box and have 3 legs of 12 gauge wire branch out to each duplex receptacles so then each receptacle will get it's own feed.

Maybe I'm just getting a little out of hand

I have dealt Revolution Power many, many times in the past and they are top notch!
One of the best I have dealt with.

Cheapest shipping around, he uses US Postal.
Seeing that you don't live in the US though (Jersey ) YMMV.

The Amp I am buying is a Musical Fidelity Tri-Vista 300 and it has a RMS current draw of 35 amps. I'm thinking the 20Amp line may limit the output.

    Should I be installing a 30A or 50A circuit?

I just don't know how to do that since the biggest I ever ran was 20Amps.

    My guess would be no.

Electrical wiring advice is best left to your electrician.
I would not go by advice from an audio forum, or any public forum for that matter.

I asked DarqueKnight and he said that the 20A line will be fine. What I might do is run two 20A circuits, then the Tri-Vista can have it's own and the rest of my gear can get connected to the 2nd 20A circuit.

It seems that PS Audio has indeed stopped selling the PPP. Rather odd considering that it was one of their best sellers.

    Sal, here's one. http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls....ist&1328148639

    Here's three. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-3-PACK-P...-/290580199583

As DK stated, a 20 amp line will be more than enough.

Just do what Russ did and get a dedicated circuit for each amp + all the other gear (preamp, cdp, etc) then for the HT side, then for all the other outlets in the room + a lighting circuit - O-M-G!!

Jesse, I found those two, the one on ebay does not work and that guy on Audiogon is the one I don't trust. Are they used?, Where's the packaging?, it just seems strange the way they are lined up in the picture and not in their boxes.

I am trying to learn and obsorb as much info about upgrades and tweaks as I can. I am currently running 2 twenty amp dedicated circuits to my setup which consists of 4- Carver M 500 T's a Carver CT-7 pre a Technics turntable and A technics CD player. When I did this I used Hospital Grade 20 amp outlets it has been this way for 12 years and I push my tunes hard I mean rain gutter rattling hard. I have never had a problem in that time. Can someone explain to me why I would spend 100.00 for an outlet when in my opinion I could just cut the plugs off and hard wire my amps in establishing a more solid connection than one of these 100.00 outlets Thanks Harry

Don't forget the additional connection at the other end of the fancy power cables, maybe you could flow some solder into the connector.

gdb, If you are reffering to IEC connectors I would agree that every break in the chain is apt to cause a problem another contact point. My amps dont have them so in essence hard wiring would provide a direct link to the supply voltage. ViperZ I dont think it was me that opened this can of worms that happened long before I asked my question.

I used a 30 amp line for the BAT amps, not much more difficult to install than a twenty. Went with the 30 after having a conversation with a Mr. Vladmir Shutnov from BAT. I was very satisfied with the results...the amp you heard in the old Woodshed Rig at the Georgia Polkfest. The 20 amp circuit will work for the Tri-Vista, good idea to install two of them in the room.
