    Default TV wall mounts

Just got my first tv that's flat and light enought to be hang on the wall. (Yes, I know, i'm late to this technology party lol)
46' Samsung 7000 series to be exact, should be delivered right around new years, i'm excited!!

So now i'm looking at wall mounts and can't figure out which one to go with or better yet why there's such a huge price differance between what i see on Ebay/online and places like Best Buy.

Any particular brands i should be looking at? Or maybe avoid?
Any features these mounts need to have? The only one i can think of is being able to tilt a bit if I want it to...what else is there to look for really??
As for weight - led tvs are light so that shouldn't even concern me much, right?

congrats on the new TV. In my reasearch (mine is mounted too) is that some of the cheaper ones make it very difficult if at all to adjust the angle of the tv. The other thing is how close to the wall you will get.
HT- HK 335, Rotel 1075, Miova PC, AQ Indigo speaker cable, XLO jumpers, AQ Diamondback Ics, AQ HDMI x2, AQ component, Signal cable analog II Ics, Signal cable digcoax, Signal cable Toslink, Rti8, Csi5, Rti6, Energy s10.2, Panny 42" Plasma, PS3, Harmony 1100 (on the way, thanks Sal) and Harmony PS3 Adapter(picking it up tonight) LG dvdp(for the kids) , Monster 3600MKII all on a dedicated circuit.

I have THREE of the 24.99/29.99 free shipping amazon/ebay mounts. I've had no issues with any of them, easy to hang. PLUS I get a free HDMI cable with every one, DOUBLE PLUS I HAVE A TOOLBOX DEDICATED TO MINI LEVELS!!!

On the serious side, I think the BB/Walmart ones are marked up quite a bit, unless you need the swivel option, stick with a cheepo. Nice score BTW, congrats.

I have 3 of the Cheetah mounts. No issues with any of them. Just don't rely on the internal levels in the mount they have all seemed to be off. Most expensive one I bought was for the 60" plasma. It extends 2 feet from the wall and swivels. I think it was around $64.

Just look for the features you might want and perhaps read some of the customer reviews on Amazon. No reason to spend big $'s on a TV mount unless it fills some special requirements, that the cheaper ones might not have.

Some really good reviews on Cheetah mounts. Cheap as dirt and close to 1,000 reviews most are 5 and 4 stars. Looks like i've found what i was looking for - thank you guys!

With this new TV purchase i feel like i've been "out of the scene" for way too long lol - now i realize that my dvd player will not cut it anymore, i need blu-ray, my Time Warner receiver needs to be changed to newer one that does HD (at least this one is on Time Warner and not me) I'm looking into 3D glasses (that are $130 each) cuz you know... how else am i supposed to enjoy all that tv can offer haha?
I will also need to get speakers since there's just no way a tv THAT thin will have built-in speakers i will actually enjoy. Def looking at Polk's SurroundBar 6000 here.

    Then there's also HDMI cables....

Is there really a differance in them? Some cost close to nothing while others are over a $100
    Any input on HDMI?

    Monoprice.com
They have a variety, from straight mounted flat on the wall, tilting, swivel, pull out and swivel, etc. Anything you could want, really, and you can't beat the prices, IMHO. Shipping is a little high, but the total will still be a lot less than I have ever found anywhere else.

No, not really. There may be some super-cheap ones that don't actually meet HDMI standards and won't work, but I haven't run into any. I've had good luck with the $10-15 ones from Fry's. Besides, HDMI is digital, so it will either work or not work. You don't have to worry about the picture or sound "degrading" since it's not analogue. Simply put, if you have a bad one, it will be obvious.

I second the Monoprice recommendation. I just picked up a full articulating mount (one that anchors to both studs, not a one arm bandit type) I think it cost me $70 shipped? I found some comparible ones in a reasonable price range, but nothing around me (Sams Club had some, but not to pick up in store, and shipping made it not such a great deal)

Another vote for MP. Picked up when one their nicer ones a year ago or so with the cast aluminum arms for my 50" plasma. Absolutely no sag, easy to install and great price.

Just make sure that any HDMI cable that you choose is a Category 2 (high speed) cable. This will future proof you for awhile. You'll need the Category 2 cables for Audio Return channels and 3D.

If your ordering from amazon, I have decent luck with the Media Bridge cables. If you not ordering from Amazon, get the Monoprice cables. Also, some of the Cheetah mounts come with one HDMI cable.

Ok, just paid for tv mount from monoprice. Durable, simple, great reviews, and literally 6 times less $$$ then what BB wants for the same exact unit. Thank you!

Category 2 HDMIs - will only buy those since my tv is 3d-ready

Another question - i'm now looking for 3D Bluray player.
    1. Do all of them work well with 3D movies? Is there a differance between bluray player and 3D bluray player??
    2. I know SonyPlayStation3 "does everything" - games, dvd, bluray, radio..... are there more units like that? Not really big on games, could care less for them but would rather buy a unit that does a bunch of stuff then a few different units with 1 feature each.

Almost any new Blu Ray player will do 3D. The older ones you will have to check compatibility. Also, you might consider built in wifi vs wifi ready (which means adapter or dongle). Just makes it easier for firmware updates.

While a Blu Player won't play games, it will up convert DVDs to hi def (some do this better than others). All the blu ray players and most TV's now support internet streaming. So when you said radio, and you meant Pandora and similar programs, it will do them.

What Gad said. Just about any decent BRP (over $100?) will play BR's, DVD's, Picture CD's, and do much of the streaming from a PC or internet.

The part that gets a little tricky is how much you want to spend. If a $100 BRP will do everything you want - congrats. I picked up the Oppo ($499) and I absolutely love it. I can't honestly say it's worth the money to ME personally, but the reviews are all there to back it up. Other people are more content with paying $200 for a PS3 and just using it as a player rather than a gaming system (but the system is always there lingering in the background in case you have some folks over)

I'd say up until a year or 2 ago - the PS3 was always in the top 3 of any review out there. I think players have come along way - but it certainly is still a top 10 contendor (if not still in the top 5)
