I think a lot of things...you've got too much money to spend, or are mortgaging your house to buy it, you spend a LOT of time listening to music (Very jealous of that) and that you have an amazingly understanding and/or very involved wife...or you're single....

Above all that, I think I'd love to hear your rig!

Not bad for a starter amp. Of course they won't be able to touch a decent set of $40k monoblocks, but everyone has to start somewhere I guess.

    https://app.audiogon.com/listings/454243

And of course $40k is just for mid-fi crap. Nowhere near a decent set of $65k amps, though.

I'm thinking you might want to consider a new dedicated circuit to your man cave.

Good thing your incoming line voltage is high; bet this puppy will bring it right down to 120v in no time !

Got to go with doro on this. Their stuff is good, but at that price, I don't think so. If I'm going to spend money like that, there's a lot to choose from.

Unfortunately, I'm never going to have extra cash reserves in that 'range'. Or maybe I just won't have a "wife" and kids. lol

So, what's the story Sal. Is this a "wish list" item or do you actually have said unit?

It always amazes me how many people, including me, post without reading the entire thread. Especially when it is a less than one page thread.

However, 12K will not even buy a good pair of speakers, let alone a decent amp.

If all I had was $12k to spend on an amp I'd just get a nine-volt battery, an amplifier IC and a handful of random capacitors, because it's going to sound as good as whatever amp I could buy at that price point.

I just bought a Brand new Pair of MIT Shotgun S1 Biwires yesterday from Joe Abrams for $1100.00 Shipped!

There is a used pair on the Gon for $975 http://app.audiogon.com/listings/454677 but I wanted New and the Lifetime Warranty.

That is my last purchase for a very long time, well maybe I'll look into some Bass Traps, maybe I can find a local polkie to bring theirs over so I can see how it effects my system before shelling out the dough!

I understand that this is a hypothetical purchase,

    BUT,

If you were going to drop 12k into your system, you'd be better off spending it on new speakers.

I the hope the SDA Gods didn't hear that!

I'm in the same boat, except my car is only worth about 700. I think each individual piece in my 2-channel system is worth more than my car.

I paid $250 for my current car and $400 (Each) for the last 3 cars I bought before that. This is over the course of the last 5 years.
