Still gain access to it via the controller and wireless head set?
I would think I could but I have a client that claims it does not work, I thought that the controllers are Radio Frequency?
Thanks,
Sal

Mine is in a particle board equipment rack that has a drop down door. If I close the door the controller is not 100% responsive, and that is a distance of about 4 feet.
Wow OK, Thanks.
So I need to figure out how to boost this signal. I wonder if a remote extender will work.
Maybe either one of these:

Why don't you try it and find out for yourself?
Blue that is odd. I have a closed tv cabinet and am constantly walking to my fridge for beer >20' away and can still talk on the headset and move around without a hiccup. Is your cabinet made of lead?
YMMV i guess![]()

The 360 controllers operate on 2.4ghz... so if you're having a distance problem, it could be because of wifi saturation in your area. Sometimes, it's as simple as changing the wifi channel on your router. It's a rare problem, because the 360 controllers and wireless headsets use frequency-hopping to avoid this issue... but if all your neighbors are close and rockin' wifi, you can have issues. I've seen people change to wireless-N 5ghz for their wifi and that fixes their 360 controller issues.
There's no easy way to extend them, sadly. That said, I get a solid 30-35 feet from my 360 before it loses the controller (though the wireless headset has a little shorter range). Your only option would be to modify the 360 hardware so you can extend the wireless antenna outside of your cabinet, and I don't know if anyone has even tried that yet. The only setups that I have seen work for a hidden rack setup are using wired controllers with a USB extension built into the room.

Yes you can. It just depends on the location and if there is any interference from other devices in the area. I know this because it took a while to get mine working just like the OP describes. But it definitely is possible - with a little work.
Thanks all except decal.
This is for a client and his Son's closet.
Decal, I don't need to try it at my house. My closet would be different than my client's closet.
I can confirm it will work if you install an IR blaster to it. I have mine installed in the rear of the HT, in a cabinet. Wireless controller maybe an issue for you depending on distance, though not sure.
