    Default SoundBar 4000 setup

Just purchased the Soundbar 4000 but cannot get it to work with my system. Soundbar & wireless sub are both powered up.

I am connecting to a 52" Sony Bravia LCD TV that has Direct TV installed with it.

On the back of the Polk Soundbar I had to use "Source" #2 since my TV does not have the plug to match Source #1. Plugged in using the RCA analog cable to Source #2 and then used the splitter supplied to the back of our TV's Audio Out jack.

Went into our TV's SOUND settings and chose the "Audio System" setting. Doing this does nothing to provide sound to the Soundbar.

Looking at the rear of the Direct TV satellite box there does not appear to be any places for me to connect Soundbar to.

Not sure what else to try other than just returning this and getting a Sony SoundBar ;-(

    Hello,
Thanks for posting on CP, I'm sorry you're having a problem. There are a few things to check. Make sure the SB is set to "source 2" there should be two blue LEDs on the front of the bar. It's also important to turn off the internal Sony speakers and if you have the choice set the audio output to "fixed" instead of "variable". Also, make absolutely sure the connection, on the Sony, is an audio out not an input. As a way of testing the SB connect it to any audio device, DVD player, CD player and see if you get sound.
Give Polk's CS folks a call at 1-800-377-7655 for help if things aren't working.
    Regards, Ken

Unhappy Trying to connect SB 4000

I got my SB 4000 yesterday and am trying to hookit up with my Sony Bravia TV, but not able to get the sound out.
I tried the Digital output as well as the Red/White cable, but nothing helps.

What could be the problem? Other posts say that my TV should be on 2-channel output, how do we get that? I tried everyting on my TV but not able to get that.

The customer service is available only during hours when I am not at home, which sucks.

I am frustrated right now and may return it if this thing continues.

    Please help.

    Thanks.
    Anand

    Hello Anand,
Sorry you're having problems. You'll want to contact Sony's customer support and have them walk you through setting the TV's digital audio to PCM instead of Dolby digital. Also if there is a menu choice to turn off the internal TV speakers, make that as well. Also raise the level of the audio out once the internal speakers have been set to "off".
    Regards, Ken

Unhappy Having similar problem on set up

I bought the 4000 and am having trouble getting any sound out of it. I have it connected to a 55' Philips and I've consulted the TV support department they suggested an optial to coaxial converter for digital sound and it's not working. Also tried the connected that came with the soundbar and it was a no go, in addition to trying a digital to anaglog convertor. I tried direct connect to the blu-ray player and nothing. I'm starting to think that's it's not my set up but rather the soundbar itself. I hate to have to return it because I know I wouldn't get another Polk I'll get something else. The main reason I got the Polk was because the set up seemed so simple. Is there anything that I am missing??

    Hello Imontan,
Welcome to Polk's forum, I'm sorry you're having a problem. From your description it seems as though the problem might with the SB itself. If it were me I would call Polk's CS department first thing tomorrow morning at: 1-800-377-7655. They can help you solve the problem.
    Regards, Ken
