Some of you read my post a few threads down about purchasing a carver 1.0t and a c-1. While listening to some tunes on the carver setup I decided to make some cable adjustments on my Vsx-32 reciever and to be safe I always unplug it first. When I did i noticed that the volume on my carver setup increased volume a decent bit. It wasnt blaring but it was enough for it to scare me. The thing that confused me is that the vsx was not on just plugged in.
The vsx is on its own surge protector by itself and the carvers are plugged into a Monster HTS1650 power center/conditioner, along with my tv, bluray, xbox and a few other small voltage items. They both plug into the same outlet on the wall. Could there be that much of a drain from the Vsx?
The other thing that crossed my mind is how i have the preouts sent to the Carver amp. I have the preouts from the vsx and the C-1 going into a Y splitter and then into the carver amp. Is this not a good idea? I know I should not have them on at the same time for obvious reasons but maybe the vsx is still sending a low signal out its preouts?
I have it set that way so that if i want to listen to 2 channel and use the much superior c-1 and 1.0t I could, and if I wanted to watch a movie via my vsx and use the 1.0t I could. I would be able to do it with out changing any wires.
Please advise me what to do.
