    Default GoldenEar Audio

I have been throwing the idea about upgrading the upstairs speakers.

I recently heard these http://www.goldenear.com/products/triton-towers at a local store. Got to say I was very impressed with the sound. Everyone in the store was very surprised at the sound. Don't remember having that feeling in a while.

Just bought a Marantz SR7005 http://us.marantz.com/us/Products/Pa...oductId=SR7005 receiver and would like to have some decent new speakers to go with it due to fact that I listen to this system much more than the larger downstairs system. System has a seperate amp for 2 channel.

The speakers were developed by old Polkie Sandy Gross.

I have read the rave reviews but I really don't really trust the audio magazines all the times. I believe they have a vested interest in their reviews.

The price of the speakers seems pretty "resonable", aprox. $2600 for the pair. Any thoughts as to possible alternatives in this range if anyone has heard the GoldenEar and prefers other brands. Haven't looked and any newer brands in quite some time and would welcome input if you have heard these first.

Anyone else heard these speakers ????

Search the forums, they come up alot here. Have you listened to the new Polk LSiM line. Maybe better or even a step up on the Golden Ear speaks, worth a listen though.

Do you still have the LSi's that you had downstairs?

+1. Some of the Golden Ear reviews here have been mixed.

Yes I do Ed. Thinking of maybe bring them upstairs but like the idea of all the best speakers being downstairs.

I heard them and they are very picky about setup and also what gear your running. They are decent HT speakers, but not sure I would like them for music.

At their price you could get a set of Paradigm studio 20's and a decent sub which I believe would outperform them by quite a bit IMHO.
