    Default noises from blu-ray player

Hi Guys,I really do not watch bought movies all that much but since I had the avr and tv I went out and bought an open box Tosiba Blu-Ray bdx 2200w/remote.I made them h/u the unit in the store and it worked fine. Getting home I install it into my system and during the loading process and the annoying repitious trailer director thing out comes only what I can decribe as minor grinding noises.During actual play it's dead quite and the movie does it's thing w/ total effect.Question is this just a cheap open box $57 unit or do other blu/rays make this loading sound. One other thing that I've noticed is that loading takes quite a long time compared to my Denon cdp/dvd.Surround sound is fine and the depth charge scene in U-571 was room shaking just for an example.

The slowness is a blu-ray thing. Just about any review you find on them will list the load times because it is significant compared to everything else we are used to.

As far as the noise - it's just the laser tracking that you're hearing. No big deal as Chum said.

That loading noise is fairly common on cheaper BDP"s. Why do you think they sell for little coin ? If you can live with that noise, don't worry about it, if not, bring it back.

Personally...I would throw it in the street if it were too loud. By too loud I mean hear it at all. Normal? Yes on cheap players but none the less one of my biggest pet peeves.
