Default Problem with Output from Denon AVR 4310 & OPPO

I recently purchased an OPPO BDP-95 to replace my Sony Blu-Ray due to the Sony not having 3D capability (and I wanted a nice universal player that sounded good). Since my AVR (Denon AVR 4310 CI) only has 1.3 HDMI ports, it does not support 3D.

I currently have the HDMI out on my Denon plugged into HDMI port 1 of the TV. My plan was to run the video from the OPPO directly to HDMI port 2 on my TV and run the 7.1 analog cables to the EXT in on my Denon for the sound (I specifically want this setup so I can utilize the internal DAC of the OPPO). I adjusted the settings in the OPPO to send video only through HDMI 1 and Audio via 7.1 analog to the Denon. The problem I run into, is when I play a Blu-Ray (through HDMI port 2 on TV) I only get a picture but no sound. When I switch to HDMI port 1 of the TV I get the Denon main screen with the sound from the Blu-Ray. I have messed with most settings on the Denon but for the life of me cannot get it to send sound to the speakers when my TV is using HDMI port 2. I can't find any sort of bypass or anything. Does anyone have any advice or idea of what I?m doing wrong? I have been messing with this for 4 days now and am about to swap out the 4310 with something else that is 3D capable (this would be a last resort because the Denon sounds fantastic). Thanks in advance for any advice/assistance.

Your Oppo got 2 HDMI outs; you can also plug the HDMI 2 out from your Oppo to your Denon for sound, no need for those analog cables.
Did you assign the multichannel analog section to an output name? In your current setup, you will need to select that output name in order to get sound.

I do not want to use the dual HDMI method as it bypasses the DAC in the OPPO. I searched all the assignment areas in my Denon and cannot find anywhere where I can specifically assign the "EXT IN" to output to a specific area.

Here's how you should have it set up.

    1) HDMI out of OPPO to TV on HDMI 2
    2) 6 CHANNEL ANALOG to DENON EXT IN
    3) HDMI out of DENON to TV HDMI 1
    4) pick an inout of the DENON
    5) Press EXT IN , forever will EXT IN will be assigned to this given input like DVD or HDCD

HDMI from Denon has no meaning for the Oppo anymore , if you have EXT IN to an input that also USES HDMI as a video out , you will have no sound as you described.

So go to DVD , Press on the remote EXT IN and your good. Sound and video now fixed.

Thanks! I finally got it working. I cannot believe how much better this OPPO sounds compared to my old Sony. Like night and day!
