Default Paint that sticks to glass.

I want to convert my amp meter lighting on my SAE amplifiers to blue like the McIntosh amps. I thought I might try painting the bulbs blue. I just checked and the bulbs give off no detectable heat, at least none that I can feel with my fingers.

The foreseeable problems would be what kind of paint and which tint of blue, the "stickability" of the paint to the bulb, and how to apply it without it dripping off the bulbs.

Any ideas on this would be most welcome.

Get to your local party store for some blue cellophane to place around or in front of your bulb IF you're certain that the bulb isn't available in blue already. Paint would be a bad plan IMO.

Perhaps more than you wanna mess with. But have you searched Google to see if anyone has been doing any LED mods to SAE gear? Like they do on some Marantz stuff?

I had a guy in Michigan modify an SAE amp with the led's. I sent him the payment to do 7 more and he basically took the money and I never heard from him again.

I took the modified board to a company that makes custom circuit boards....they want $100 per board!!

I found a website called replacementlightbulbs.com and ordered new bulbs for ALL my amplifiers. Today I went to an arts and crafts store and bought some blue paint that sticks to glass. If the paint trick works this will be the most cost-effective method to have the blue-meter look (I couldn't find blue bulbs).

Well the trick worked. It took 2 dippings of the bulbs into the paint and I am satisfied with the results.
