Default Ripping Vinyl to CD opinions

I want to try burning some cd's from the TT and i have a question.
I have an HHB850 pro cd burner that has a line in with RIAA capabilities but also run this thru a Parasound pre.
Would you think it's better to run straight from the TT to line in on the burner or run it thru the phono pre first?

Well, RIAA equalization is a simple formula but how it is implemented makes the difference between a good and a great one. Power supply makes a big difference, quality of parts, etc. IMO, the best quality gear and phono stage you have will produce the best vinyl rips. While time consuming, you could try them both and compare. I connect tape out via my pre amp to a ?putie. I use the free software Audacity and record in hi-res, although it will get dithered down when burned to CD. Once on the hard drive I can do click repair (if needed) and then convert to flac retaining hi-res or record to CD.

I'm not even gonna try the computer thing.Hell i'm lucky i can do what little i can now on this thing.
I'll try both.probably was going to anyway but wondered if one really overshadows the other.
I looked at Audacity once and got a friggin headache.

Take some Tylenol...it's really not that bad :). I do mine with a Pro-ject Phono USB and Audacity and have had excellent results. Since you are doing it with your HHB850, you may wind up experimenting a bit to get it right. I've heard of some having to tweek the sound loudness so as to not get any distortion using your method. You can probably do it without the Parasound if you can tweek it right, otherwise put it in and see what happens.

I run my Marantz Pro burner off of the tape out on my pre and get very good results.

I've done quite a few vinyl 'restorations' using the TT through a receiver (gotta get the phono equalization from somewhere). Receiver tape-out goes through USB A/D converter/sound card (Waveterminal U24). I started with cheap computer sound cards - not so great. Then the 'restoration' part (click removal, track markers/fades, etc.), is done with Wave Corrector software.
