    Default LSi15 7.1 placement with LSiFX's and LSi9's

So, I just woke up and the first thing i thought of was how i was going to place my new speakers. :) LSi15, LSi9, LSiFX, LSiC, and for some reason I forgot all about a new sub, that's on the list to research.

Let me start off by giving all you hard core guys a big thanks. You all probably don't hear it enough, but your help, even if it's wrong, is always a valuable contribution to the discussion.

I tried looking but couldn't find the placement for the surround speakers. I'm guessing the LSiFX's go in the back, but are the LSi9's even sutible for side surround speakers? If they are how should there placement be? I'm assuming the LSiC will go above the tv. Part of me is debating just running a 5.1 setup, and using the LSi9's for something else.

So, my entertainment room is an acoustical nightmare as far as shape goes. When I break out the trumpet it can really give some wierd vibes. But the room does make the acoustical guitar sound really good no matter where your at. Keep in mind the trumpet is very directional, and the huge openings, and offset fireplace just plays havoc with it, It really just needs to be on a stage.

The room is 13' wide, by 18' deep. The tv is offset to the left because of the fireplace. I'm only going to be able to spread the LSi15's 6' from each other. dam that fireplace! So because of the offset, if i use side surround the right side is going to be 6' father away from the listining poistion. Oh, and the left side, the couch is already agaist the wall.

I would put the FX's on the sides and 9's in the rears if your doing 7.1. Personally though, I would do 5.1 and use the 9's in another room and put the FX's in the rear.
A pic of the room would help too.
What are you driving all these LSI's with ?

Well, I put the LSiFX's to the sides, as that's the primary surround poistion for 5.1. Doing a little more reading I actully think another pair of LSiFX's would be better in the rear then the LSi9's. Unless someone else has experience with LSi9's in the rear, If i did use them, they would need to be pointed at eachother? I'll get a pic in a little bit. I'm still debating on 5.1 vs 7.1 Not sure I can use the LSi9's anywhere else, so they may be for sale.

I'll be using an Onkyo TX-NR809 for power for right now. Soon as I get everything setup and running I'll look into an amp with a bit more testostrone.

Well, the Onkyo TX-NR809 came in, and 3 things were apparent after getting everything hooked up.
    1. My current sub sucks. Big time. lol
    2. My house, or at least that room is built like the "first little piggy".
    3. I'm not going to get very much done around the house for awhile.

The 809 is 4ohm certified. Curently have it bi-ampd doing 5.1. I havn't pushed anything yet, but the built in fans havn't even kicked on. It sounds awesome. I can't wait till I get a dedicated amp.

I'm going to end up using the LSi9's in the rear for a 7.1 setup. Looks like they need to be pointing at eachother. From what I've read the rears need to be set like the fronts, with the tweeter around 6" from listening poistion. Should they be as far apart as possible?
