Default Denon Avr-891 good enough for RTi A series

    Hi,

I'm new here and was previously running a pair of Polk t600s (monitor 60s in canada) off of my Denon AVR-891. It sounded fine, but I've decided to upgrade my system and was curious if this should still provide enough juice or if I should look into upgrading my Amp. I've purchased 2 RTi A7s, a CSi A4, and 2 RTi A1s to run in a 5.1 set up. I'll look at adding a sub in a couple months. Will my current amp be able to handle these speakers adequately?

Not really , you will not hear what those speakers can do. If you like the Denon sound , I suggest at least a avr3311

I would tend to agree that it's not enough power if you're looking to really see what the rti's are capable of. You could look into higher end denon or marantz units if you're happy with your current AVR. I would suggest squirreling some money away and just don't go crazy on the volume knob until you upgrade your power.

Who does one contact to create a sticky? I think many receivers can drive 'A5s; most if not all can drive the 'A1s & 'A3s w/out breaking a sweat.

Thanks guys. I've decided to go with the 3312ci. Gives more power and the ability to add an amp if I ever get tired of condo living and decide to really push it to the limit :) thanks for your help. Everything should have arrived and be set up by this weekend, I'll let you know how it sounds. I've also decided to exchange the csi a4 for the a6 and wall mount my tv. There wasn't gonna be enough room on my stand for the a6 before but this is a better solution, I think.

Your absolutely correct. The OP doesn't have A5's on his wish list however. I think the train of thought is in surround mode, most entry level receivers are weak, while the rti7's and 9's especially, like alittle more juice to perform their best.

I have the AVR-891 running A5's A3's and a csia4 with a psw111 sub no issues. It dosent get hot and I play movies at -10 and music in multichannel at -10 no issues at all. I do beleive that runnig A7's would be pushing it though.

I received the A1s and A6 today. A7s should be coming in Thursday which is the same day I'll grab the new amp as well. Even just having the A1s as my fronts and the A6 already seems to be an improvement. That A6 is truly a fantastic speaker.

I know I'm getting a little ahead of myself here, but if I was to get an Emotiva XPA-3 (this keeps on getting more and more expensive), would that just allow me to play at higher volumes (not what I'm looking for) or would it increase the quality of the sound. I'm in a condo so I'm not really looking for huge volume. At least there's concrete walls so I can push the volume a little bit, but not too much. would there be another 3 channel amp you'd suggest for a set up like mine? I'd prefer if it's something I could order online.

I've got the new 3312 ci hooked up. Everything is working out well :) the rti a7s are apparently not arriving until Monday now, that was a little bit of a let down. I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas morning, haha.

Well, I finally got everything installed today after some delays through purolator. Everything sounds FANTASTIC! I threw on some Blu Rays with good action scenes and questioned if I even needed a subwoofer. Everything was loud, clear, and when bass was called for it more than delivered. Super happy with my upgrade. still waiting on an APC power conditioner and some longer cables from Monoprice to clean up the overall look of my living room, but I'll be sure to post pics to the system showcase soon. Also, it strikes me as odd that there's no system showcase forum for commentary/suggestions etc. I wish I could post comments on some of the ones I've checked out there.
