Good memory, was a while back though.
Sent the OP a PM, but just to state for the forum, the 307 was hands down the best receiver I ever owned. SQ was simply heads and shoulders above the rest. I will admit that todays receivers are getting closer to the SQ of the older top of the line units though. Had balls to drive 4 ohm speakers too, in retrospect I probably should have just held on to it.
what would you like to know?![]()
Fronts - LS-90

Amp - B&K AVR317
The B&K AVR307/507/317 is probably one of the best hi-fi bargains out there. Easily drives 4ohms loads and is built like a tank. The only downside I ever found was a confusing menu and setup if you're new to B&K. Otherwise it's one of the best AVR's you can buy with regards to power, even if it's a bit thin on bells and whistles.
Try and find an upgraded model if at all possible, like the AVR317 or AVR517. The early models of the series, and I mean EARLY, have some quirky issues with the muting circuit and some other oddities but nothing that keeps it from working or being a great buy. I think Tony, Wallstreet and myself may know the most about that particular series and model, so if you have questions....ask away.
I sent him a PM Mark, we all mentioned the upside, but I also explained the downside in my PM. No hdmi. no automatic room calibration, though it has enough tweeks to do it all manually to your hearts content. That can get confusing for some along with the setup menu. Once you get used to it, it's a breeze really.
I'm really hopeing they come back with some current offerings, though shelling out 3500 bones for a receiver again is going to be a sticking point with alot of people so I hope they are more competitive next time around.
