no sound from IHT 6000 when playing DVD from optical input

just received this soundbar but I can't make it work from my DVD BluRay player out of the optical audio output. There is no sound. I hook up the BR player to the TV via HDMI and then from the TV to the IHT6000 with optical digital audio output: no sound.
I then connected the BR player optical audio output directly to the IHT with the same result: no sound.

I modified several settings of my BR player but still no sound out of the IHT. I switched off HDMI Audio Output , I set up Digital Audio Output to PCM Down Conversion, etc. but it changes nothing: no sound out of the soundbar.

The soundbar works OK from my ATT Uverse STB (optical audio out too) and it works OK from the 3.5mm input (from my iphone as well as my DVD BR player).

It is clearly a set up issue on my BR player and/or the unability of the soundbar to decode DolbyDigital.

Hello BB,
Welcome to Polk's forum. The best advice I can offer is to try and get the player to unconverted PCM output. Maybe contact the player's support and ask how this is done? Sorry, I wish I could be more specific, but getting it to output PCM digital is the key.
