It looks like they sank a little money into fixing them up. There are at least 8 replaced MW's and 4 replaced tweeters. It also looks like one of the MW's has some damage on the surround. too bad.

Those MW's have that damage because some replacement MW's from Polk do not have cut-outs where the screws go and you need to manually make those cut-outs yourself with an exacto knife before installing them.

Wow, those are pretty bad. Almost nothing original about those original SDA's!

Hope whoever bought them is ready to do some work...

Ugh! Not a good deal at all. Hopefully he can pick up another set of speakers with the same drivers on the cheap to get the replacements he's going to need. Bummer for him.

I have to admit, the first set of SDA-SRS's I picked up, I wasn't too careful at inspecting them. Later I found out that several drivers had pinholes or small tears - 7 of the 16, to be exact. Luckily I found a set of water damaged (cabinet only) 15tl's for almost nothing that had the exact model drivers that I needed. All-in-all, a good experience, but only because I didn't have to shell out another $350 on drivers. Now I go over speakers with a fine tooth comb...

If the purchaser is on here, good luck getting them fixed up!

That had to have been a "buy it now" auction. No way anyone would have bid them up that high.

Yup, it was a "buy it now." Someone has been had.

why feel bad for the purchaser? The seller listed what was wrong with them in clear terms. Demand determines the price, and I commend the seller for getting a good amount for them. Parts are readily available (minus the PR's) and the SRS market has been relatively dry as of late. All this means is it could be a good time to unload your SRSs.

I think the point is, the buyer is going to need find/buy at least 4 drivers (if not more), at least 4 tweeters (to get them all to match), and both PR's are in pitiful shape and should probably be replaced. On top of that, it appears there aren't even any grills to cover them... so you have to stare at those ugly chewed-on PRs. Finally, given that much physical damage, there is no telling if all of the drivers/tweeters even work either.

Lots of money should be pumped into those speakers, on top of what might have been a fair price if they were in 8/10+ condition.

But as you said, the demand determines price. I guess that guy really wanted them. Hopefully he doesn't feel ripped off when he gets them in-house...

It might be interesting to watch the seller's feedback rating on this sale. The buyer might be reading all of these comments on how he didn't get such a great pair of speakers or the bargain price that he may have thought he did and just decide to pass on it. The seller may just be re-listing these before too long.

And NO, I wasn't the buyer!

I emailed the seller since I have no idea who the buyer is.

In the past when you could see who was bidding I used to warn people of items that were not worth bidding on. Now you can't do that till after they leave feedback and at that point is it really worth rubbing salt in the wound?

What did you say to the seller?...."Dude, you're a crook!" - ?........Or, "Dude, well played!" - ?

Haha! I used to warn a few buyers on ebay myself. We're probably part of the reason they changed the bidder list ID rules.

I don't feel so bad as the pictures where above par as far as eBay goes. With my budget I'd do a ton of research before marking that bid or BIN.

    1) No, I wouldn't have much of a warm and cozy feeling going into a $1300 transaction with somebody that I didn't know who used "smellyarmpt" as their ebay ID. Maybe we missed a part of the listing - he didn't say anywhere that the cabinets were filled to the base of the PRs with diamonds or anything, did he? Hmmmm...it is strange though, the seller does have good feedback (one negative in over 600 transactions) and is selling several things in the $400 - $1500 price range.

    2) I can't imagine anyone buying those specific speakers without first knowing a great deal about them and second doing a great deal of research on them prior to doing so. And, where would that research lead them? It would lead them right here to the home of the most knowledgeable (SDA-SRS wise) folks on the planet, given the subject matter.

    3) If the buyer came here, and still goes ahead with the purchase.....well, good luck to him. He will have something to keep him busy for a while. I'm still placing my bet on that the sale doesn't go through and we see them re-listed before too long.

    4) Did the seller respond to your email?

Nope. More of eBay's perpetual kowtowing to the seller.

Of the "over 600" feedbacks, I can verify less than 400 using eBay's feedback system. (Two pages of 200)

He's had one negative feedback in the last YEAR. I see a second one hidden farther back in the system.

While two negative feedback in ~400 total ain't bad...it's not as good as eBay pretends and advertises on his behalf.

    The seller replied:

    Dear lasareath,

Hi...And I was going to tell you: Go f.... yourself....lol...lol. Really, though, they are not in bad shape. They look actually much better in person then they do in the add; and they don't look bad in the add. Now the guy paid $1300.00 or so for them, but if he had wanted a, "Mint" pair he could have bought the ones that recently sold on eBay for almost $2900.00, only a $1600.00 or so dollar difference. That is quite a lot of difference for a pair of front grills, don't ya think; and that is the main difference to the ones I was selling. Anyway, go f...., I mean, have a nice day...lol.

You're right, the "over 600" feedbacks is a bit inflated. He has 322 feedbacks (320 positives, 2 negatives) as a SELLER. Still, a better F/B profile than that of several sellers that I've bought from.

Then, there's 320 positives as a BUYER - no great feat there, entailing nothing more than going through the few clicks of the Payal process.

Anyhoo....I'm gonna watch now for the F/B from the SDA-SRS's (just 'cuz I got nuttin' better to do). But, I'm sticking with my prediction that the sale doesn't go through.

Well....I guess if the buyer is happy, we should all be happy for him.

Hey, Lasareath, since you have such a nice line of communication open with this seller (), could you please ask him for the buyer's contact information? I have a nice piece of ocean-front property in North Dakota (no mineral rights included) he might be interested in! Hey also....what did you offer to bring over to his (seller's) house when you go there for Thanksgiving dinner? Sounds like a budding friendship there!
