    Default Movie rumor

This one should get Micah (and the rest of us guys) all hyped up!

Was reading on a internet site that Luc Besson is throwing hints at making a follow up to "Leon The Professional" based on Natalie Portman's character Mathilda. Of course Natalie would be cast.

It's just rumor, but wouldn't it be cool!

Ugh. I hate this kind of news.

I want just the one little thing to remain pristine and not be tampered with and botched by sequels and stuff...

Still, I'd love to see Natalie as an action hero!

This is a big NO-NO. It won't fly. The first is too great as a stand alone and needs no part 2.

Didn't stop your man Burton from making another "Planet of The Apes."

Didn't stop Ridley from making "Hannibal."

Because the character of "The Cleaner" played by Jean Reno actually appears in Besson's previous film, "La Femme Nikita" (where he is "Victor, the cleaner"), is "Leon" actually a sequel?

I personally think that Natalie as Mathilda would make a better action heroine than Angelina Jolie does in "Tomb Raider." If Besson produced something along the lines of "Nikita" with her character... Well, I'd have to see it, huh?

First off, PotA is a remake not a sequel.

Didn't stop Ridley from making "Hannibal."
Thus further proveing my point. Hannibal completely and utterly sucked. It was much worse than the already bad and boring film, SotL.

Regardless if Leon is a sequel to La Femme or not, nothing states that it is. There is some common ground between both films, but it's not like having a blatant sequel like: Mathilda: The Professional.

I personally think that Natalie as Mathilda would make a better action heroine than Angelina Jolie does in "Tomb Raider." If Besson produced something along the lines of "Nikita" with her character... Well, I'd have to see it, huh?
Judas Priest Micah, my dog could be a better action hero than Angelina Jolie. C'mon you can do better than that.

Leon is a perfect film on its own. The ending was seen as Methilda learning from Leons mistakes and growing from them. Planting Leons plant was a symbol of her letting go and giving him the roots that he longed for. Seeing her go back to school is yet another sign of her starting a new, normal life away from the cleaning business and the past.

Somethings are better left untouched, this is one of them.

I'd love to see Natile Portman work under a good director, unlike joke George Lucas, but this is one she should not touch.

I'm with you on this, Ron.

My point was, just because something is stupid has never stopped hollywood from doing it. See "Cutthroat Island."

"Leon" is a great, perfect film all on its own, regardless of Victor The Cleaner in "La Femme." Just as "Silence of the Lambs" is also a great, perfect film all on its own, regardless of the fact that "Manhunter" is also so good. ("SOTL" is SO GOOD that it defies and transcends the genre, while "Manhunter" just sort of sits in the genre and looks at its watch.) These are two examples of films that can and should be viewed and judged on their own merits, apart from anything that refers to them. That's a rare quality, I think.

Do you like any other Besson movies -- apart from that CRAP "5th Element"? Have you seen the DVDs of "La Femme Nikita" or "The Big Blue" (or even his first French film, about Vietnam or something)?

Burton shouldn't have called his movie "Planet of the Apes," tho. He should been original enough to come up with a new title. He's ruining the original for me. There, I said it. Now a whole generation who never got to experience the first original film, will always think that Burton's movie is the "Planet of the Apes." That sucks.

Did you hear that Burton is talking about doing a "Silence of the Lambs" remake?

Yes, I do like Bessons other movies. The Big Blue is a great flick and I also like the 5th Element.............oh yeah, I like Cutthroat Island too.

I was never much into the old Planet of the Apes.......too cheesey IMO. The so called Apes were not ape enough, too human kinda blew the who thing. At least Burton got the ape part down.

Default ...and so it moves forward.

Fans of Luc Besson's Leon (and let's face it, who isn't?) can rejoice, for it looks as though the long pined-for sequel may actually be taking off. Talking to People magazine, Natalie Portman (who was knee-high to a grasshopper when she made her appearance opposite Jean Reno in the first film) revealed that the project is moving forward.

Asked what she would tackle upon completion of Episode III the actress said: "When Episode III finishes? I don't know. To tell you the truth, I'd like to just relax for a while. Kick back with some friends. If anything, it might be something with Luc Besson, a follow-up to a film I did when I was younger called Leon. The script's really great, and near worth delaying a vacation for. The only problem would be that I would have to hit the gym again - and at the moment I can't even envision tying my own laces up."

Leon (or The Professional if you live Stateside) was a masterful film exploring the role-reversal psychology of a precocious 12-year-old and a childlike hitman - plus it made killing people for money look extremely cool. Roll on the sequel.
