    Default Calibration prices for displays

Just wonder what the going rate round your area is for a d65 calibration of your visual displays. Have you had it done? Is it worth the cash?

I know Mantis is the most skilled on the forum so it would be nice if you chimed in with some valuable insight ..Dan

D65 means setting a display to 6500k. This is done during a ISF calibration which I do. Going rate for such a calibration is around $400.00. Worth it if you have a good display. Not worth it on most lower end LCD's and plasma's. To say "worth it" I'm not knocking any displays directly but some are basically impossible to get anywhere near a Industry standard and you have to make due with the controls and ability of said display. So you don't really get what you are paying for due to the limitations of the display.

I've done Pioneer Elite Kuro's with great success which basically fully calibrates perfectly , Panasonic Professional series that gets damn close , GT and VT models are excellent calibration displays , some Projectors benefit from a calibration.

I strongly suggest a self calibration on lower end sets with a Video Essentials Blu ray disc. You can get a nice picture out of using such a tool and save yourself some cash.
