Default Are these Technics worth the price?

I am ready for an upgrade on my turntables, but I am not exactly sure what a fair price for used Technics would be today.

I found 2 people in my area selling some Technics and would appreciate any input

    Sale 1:

    (2) Technics 1200 M3D
    Vestax PMC-270A
    2 extra Ortofon needles
    Procases Econoline Case
Includes around 500 vinyl records, mostly hip hop. **note: I worked in record stores for about 8 years so I can tell pretty quickly if the records are worth including in the purchase or passing on.

Seller says they are in excellent condition and only used by weekend wannabe DJ's and never used professionally.

Price $1300. Was thinking about offering $1100--is that fair or insulting?

    Sale 2:

    (2) Technics SL 1200 MK3D
Each turntable comes in individual metal carrying box
Stanton 500 needles on them (would be replaced with my Ortofons)

Noe: One turntable has a cut in the rubber of the cable and was closed up with electrical tape and supposedly plays fine, the other turntables cord has a cut and needs to be replaced. I have read that if you don't replace the cable on a Technic correctly you can have problems with the sound. These may have also been lugged around to events. If I can't fully check out the second player it seems like a gamble. The person selling them also inherited them, so not sure if they really know how much they were used.

Price: $725 or best offer. Are these even worth an offer of $650?

I was initially drawn to the less expensive ones (sale 2), but now I am not sure considering the cord situation on both tables. The person selling (sale 1) lives the farthest away from me about 1hr 30 min so even just checking them out is a bit of a trip..

    Thanks

From post #1 '' upgrade on my turntables ''. I would say you plan on spinning some vinyl or you wouldn't need turntables. You can always replace the cords '' both of them ''. If tables don't look beat offer $600 and see what he say's. Or ask seller #1 if he's open to offers. ( don't be one of those people that say i'll take em, then lowball price ). Most people on CL price high just to leave a little negotiating room.

Seems a little on the high for a used SL12xx, IMO, but I wouldn't want the records or the cases either. If you're seriously thinking about forking out that much on a Technics, I'd check out kabusa for a brand new one and maybe have Kevin hotrod it for ya, if it's for Hi-Fi use.... I own a 1210M5G mated with a Dynavector 10X5 HOMC cartridge and it's a dream.

    Welcome to Club Polk!

I'd listen to Mike above (Keiko). In general of the Technics in those series numbers. The MKIIs or above are considered the superior tables? But I would NEVER pay more than 500 for a minty one! Regardless. So your prices above are out of whack! OK, I see you ALSO have 500 LPs included with offer one. But you'd need to know the condition of said LPs. Are you going to go through each one and look at its surface? Probably not.

Offer the guy 250 for the 500 LPs if they're desirable! And 400-500 for the turntable if it's in good shape. I'm sure he'll be "offended"! But I can't see him getting his asking price?

And there are lots of OTHER places to find Technics TTs!

I wasn't trying to be rude, I just thought it was a strange first post on a Polk Audio Fourm. As stated above I wouldn't pay that price as well, you can find a new one for that or less, also for me as I'm not a DJ I would be sceptical about buying a player that was used for DJing regardless of what they say.. I know they are built like tanks but still..
