A couple years ago I was buying up any broken Carver stuff I came across and ended up with a pair of Carver "The Receiver" 2000's. One of them worked but was really beat up and needed the display replaced and output relays were starting to go bad. The other was in great cosmetic shape but kept blowing fuses. I took both to a tv repair guy that claimed he could fix ANY electronics and asked thathe take the two and make one good working unit out of the pretty one. After several months of stopping in and checking to see that he hadn't even started on them, one day I went buy to see that he went out of business. I asked a few of the surrounding businesses what happened. They said he came in and cleaned out the shop and never came back. Wow!! Where's my stuff ?? One of the other shop owners said he threw it all away. What?? He threw MY PRECIOUS CARVER STUFF away??? Anyway, I did a little dumpster diving and found both units at the bottom of a pile of tv's and tv repair equipment. Held onto them until I found a real audio equipment repair guy. I dropped them off last Friday and got a beautiful, working Carver 2000 receiver back yesterday! Brought it home and paired it with my Polk Monitor 11's and an old Pioneer 12 disc changer and man does it sound great! It is rated at 200 watts per channel and it really brought the 11's to life!
