    Default Pioneer Elite 6 Series

    Mantis,
I have been waiting patiently for your review on these!!

Has anyone else bought/heard/used one yet? My Oinker 807 has pooped the sheets and i am in need of a new receiver. I'm also looking at the new Marantz 6007 as well as the lower end Anthem MRX 300. I just haven't read anything about the new Elites. Not looking at the high end but the SC-61 which should fit the bill just fine with an all bookshelf system.

Unfortunately, I don't have the funds for a 4k2k elite receiver at this juncture in time but Marantz has cheaper offerings.

This is an all HT/Gaming system/Watching re-runs of the Bruins beating the Nucks in the 10-11 series

    Any information would be appreciated.

The problem I have with the current SC series is that there are now too many models, I can't keep them all straight.

If you have the cash, get the Anthem (I would). Otherwise the Onkyo 709 from accessories4less can be had for under 450 to your door and its got everything you would need IMHO. If you wanted more power the 809 offers it for another 100 bucks + shipping.

I personally dont like the lack of flexibility in the crossover selection (you select 1 for all channels) as well as the EQ used, but thats a personal choice.

I also really like the price of the Onkyo's since you could get one of those and have money left over for other purchases.

Wow they do move fast. If I can get my hands on the SC57 for 1200 or so I may upgrade my SC07.

I don't like how many models they have now, and how each one of the SC models seems to be less powerful. I liked how it was always done, if it said SC you knew exactly what you were getting.

I asked myself the same questionas to why there are so many models this year? I need to read more into this 4k2k crap and see if I shoukd just foot the bill up front?....thoughts?

I would look at the onkyos again but I find their UI clunky at best, 2 died on me, and quite frankly, ive had 3 already and want to try something different
I really like my Anthem stuff now but am a little turned off by the larger.premium for less when it comes to the receiver.

I like the three.mentioned because I wont be stuck buying a 9 channel receiver to only use 5, maybe 7 tops.

Eh all models come with pre-outs so adding power is easy. Anthem models are great for music and eq. The only difference moving up is more power and a USB input on the front. The 700 has a better transformer as well.

I think the Anthem models offer most of the features folks need nd removed the duplication most end up with if they have a blu-ray or game system (Pandora, etc). The exception being HDMI ports as I would like at least 6

If the 300 was close to my budget I would be getting it.

Sherardp and some one else on the forum bought these new relatively inexpensive 3D 4k bluray players and they have dual hdmi outs, one for vid and other for audio so you need not let something like 4K get in the way of good audio

Not to derail this thread, but for a BDP I would suggest the Sony S790. The output is nothing short of amazing and will compete with the Oppo easily.

I have not done any of the new SC models yet , just the vsx which isn't anything exciting over last years models. I'll keep you informed when they start rolling out.

Thanks Mantis. If i paypal you a quick $50, will that move the process any quicker...time is money you know......haha

I just read up on a few articles on the Sony BR player and the reviews are favorable. I can only find Sony supporting 4k2k so either that is a good thing or a bad thing. At least BR players are quite cheap now-a-days so i'm not so concerned about this purchase. And, at the price point of the 790, it sounds like a steal.

If i'm going to bypass the receiver altogether for video, then maybe i can look a little further outside the box.

Sherard, there's a SC55 on the Gon right now for $1000 if that tickles your fancy. It's almost tempting for myself!!!

Probably not . When they get in I'll post as I'm taking one home for detail testing. I plan on taking home a SC-68. I'm sure we will sell the hell out of the new SC line when they hit our store.
