I agree. Do people just hang on to their gears or there is nothing worth selling? However this is a second time I see another pair of 1C Studio for sale for the last couple of months.

They SHOULD be, but of course they're not.

Polk has a serial number breakdown of the units having the "wrong" blade/blade jacks installed--both the 2B and the 1C. The speakers are otherwise identical to the pin/blade versions. A blade/blade 1C or blade/blade 2B can be converted to pin/blade if you can find the correct socket and add a foot of wire.

What's this about all 2Bs should be pin/blade.I have Blade/blade verified by year, Jesse and a boatload of other people. When I pulled the mids out for Dynamatting I had left side #6511dd #6503sd on the right side #6503stereo driver and #6511dd. w/ '87
marked on them including the passives and again blade/blade. No longer in use, went w/ Neutrik bases and twist lock sleeves. I thought the dates would show up better. Also upgraded to the RDO-194s.

I'm curious as to why you didn't completely cover the back of the PRs? That is the part of the PRs that I found rings the most when tapped.

Wow, some these, like you said, you have to disassemble them to find out what you really have.

My 2.3tls have a thick paper ring glued to them in that area for that purpose. So I would guess you could glue thick cardboard on the speaker frame as sort of a poor man's sound deadener

I've met this guy and have bought a couple of things from him in the past. Very good seller and his gear is always taken care of. For those of you wanting the big boys and would travel, I'm sure these are in the condition described.

Hey Zen, won't you need a power amp(preferably 200 watts or more per channel) capable of running 4 ohm loads? I'm not sure your Onkyo AVR can run 4 ohms without burning up.

A guy on AVSForum going by jbc's posted this ad for his RTA 11's for 350: http://raleigh.craigslist.org/msg/4329644530.html

I know him only via that forum, so I have some slight affil, but told him I would post here as he may get more local interest. The below is the text from his ad (which has a picture but he's working on getting better ones)

For sale is a pair of Polk RTA 11 speakers. The full name on these is 'Polk Model 11 Real Time Array Reference Monitor System'. These speakers are pretty darn rare, so if you're not a true 'Polkie' you should post on some of the Polk forums and see what others say about them. A few guys know about them. It's hard to find any info on them beyond folks that really know Polk speakers. People often confuse these with the Monitor 10's. They are not 10's.

The speakers have (2) 6.5"drivers, along with a 12" passive radiator, and a 1" dome tweeter. Unlike the fairly common Monitor 10's (which are rated down to 25Hz), the 12" passive radiators, along with a larger volume cabinet size, give the RTA 11's more low end punch. I have added a Polk Audio decal on each speaker, on the lower left and lower right sides of each, as these are intended to be a left and a right speaker. You can just see the decal in the picture. The two mid drivers have different crossover points, one reason these speakers have such awesome imaging. And the reason there is a left side and a right side speaker.

These speakers are in great shape and sound wonderful. I bought a pair of Polk towers to upgrade. But after getting them home and comparing them side by side with the RTA 11's, I almost decided to keep the RTA 11's. I'm still not sure that wouldn't be the best choice. At the volume levels most people listen to, the RTA 11's sound better than my new speakers. It's a much warmer sound. But I watch movies far more than listen to music these days.

I'm in New Bern. But I do get to Burlington and Thomasville areas occasionally. So could get them to you anywhere from the New Bern area to around the Lexington area. Email or text me if interested. No lowball offers please. The only pair I've ever seen sold on Ebay went for $450, so my price is more than fair.

This is what he said on AVSForum about the speakers:

I need to get better pictures. That one doesn't do them justice. But the speakers are in the garage now, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow. I really don't want to ship these, as I am afraid they would get damaged in transit, as someone else mentioned. But if a buyer is willing to take the risk, I would ship. I have the boxes and styrofoam from the speakers I just bought. I've never had specs on these speakers. But I do have a bit more information I can add. I'll do that when I add better pictures tomorrow.

It is certainly rated to 4ohms, but that drops it's WPC rating from 130 to something lower. I'm guessing that my mileage will vary if I go to substantially larger speakers...

You should get more WPC at 4 vs 8 ohms but distortion and heat will increase.

Sheeks!!! I thought those Onkyo avrs running a 8 ohm load can already double as a space heater for the room.

During Christmas I found an okay set of 5jrs for my brother-in-law. They were great sounding little speakers so I wanted a set for myself. Found a pair and wondered if $100 was a fair offer. They want $120 for what looks like a really nice set.

The auction site is $50 to $150 it seems.

I tried attaching a picture so hopefully it worked.

    Thanks guys.

It is certainly rated to 4ohms, but that drops it's WPC rating from 130 to something lower.
While it is rated at 4 ohms, what really happens is the AVR limits current to save itself from cooking. Limiting current is not a good thing. The second part of your comment is incorrect, the wpc increases with a 4 ohm load.

You should get more WPC at 4 vs 8 ohms but distortion and heat will increase.
That is incorrect. The distortion is the same at either 4 or 8 ohms. The heat will not increase as the AVR limits current at 4 ohms.
