All I know is my 808 is on like 12 hrs a day, it does not get hot.
Everything (Tuner Computer Blu-ray CD player) must go to the 808 then to the Tv and the speakers.
My 46" TV is nothing more that a monitor no speakers no tuner only the on off button works.

I power my monitor 4 in the garage with a 509 and I have a 120mm fan blowing upward on top of the case vents to help with the heat convection. Texas summers get pretty hot. But my 808 has fans inside and they have never come on.

Why are some of you so worried about heat? Audio gear gets warm, some even get damn hot. It's ok, it's normal.

Well Jesse cause most lesser gear has a thermal shutdown and maybe some have experienced it. In the summer time I've had my receiver shut down cause of heat and I was just listening to TV not even jamming. My house has no AC so when it's 100* and 96% humidity it don't take much in the way of more heat to shut it down. Heat don't dissipate much in that environment...

Agreed if it wasn't a AVR or a Onkyo AVR. The Onkyo AVR's are infamous for heat killing the HDMI boards. As such those guys run fans on top their AVR to keep the heat away from the caps on their HDMI board so they dont dry out as much.

Yeah - I was troubleshooting an HDMI signal problem (that turned out to be my Samsung TV) and during the troubleshooting I became aware that the top of the 806 would sometimes get too hot to touch. I'm driving Polk M5B's as the mains in my 5.1 rig and knew that the 4ohm speakers could be a problem even though the ONKYO is rated to handle 4ohms. So I put the fan on top, jacked the whole AVR into one of those smart / green power strips and the fan only comes on when the AVR is powered up.

My last HT rebuild I actually wanted to simplify my system and retired my Carver power amp to the garage.

I'm reconsidering that since I'm being tempted to upgrade my front speakers by this darned forum. It's been so long I even forgot I had a Carver M0.5T and a Crown Power Base 1 out in the garage ;)

I've been thinking: "I shouldn't upgrade to 10's because then I'll have to get a new AMP." Then I start looking at AMPS and think, "Oh yeah, I really like Carvers, what would one of those cost me?". Then I search for Carver amps and remember that I already have an old-school one. Sheesh!

I tend to shut down when it's 100* and 96% humidity too. Window AC units out of the question?

Didn't know that, thanks. Makes me wonder why anyone would even consider purchasing one.

Price point. It's also not JUST onkyo, but they have a higher rate of failure. But most folks don't realize that till after purchase.

They are supposed to have fixed it in their newer models but all the X06, X07, X08, X09 models don't have the new board by default. It's because the situate the HDMI board directly over the amp section so the heat from the amps frys out the caps or they get overheated.

My Integra same as a X06 Onyko model has had 2 hdmi boards installed since I bought it new. And I don't use the onboard amps at all.

Don't know the seller but they look like 1.2TL's?

These don't show up round here that often, lately I have seen many nice SDA's in these parts. Even picked up another pair myself!
I hope someone here can get these.

Those are 1.2TL's... Great price. Hopefully a local Polkie will jump all over these. I am willing to bet that a grand CASH would be enough to seal the deal.

I've seen these before. I think he's now parting out his system. In an alternate ad he's selling an Adcom amp and pre. The first ad was for the entire set-up for $900. It's been running for sometime now. Central Jersey C/L.

    Default Sda 2.3tl

Anyone is close to Flagstaff, AZ might want to check these out. They are described as a bit rough, but the price is right - $75 for some 2.3TLs.
