    Default Which receiver for LSiM703's?

If you had to make a guess as to which receiver would pair up better with Polk LSiM703's...which would it be:
    • Denon 4311
    • Pioneer SC-68
    • Either of the above with Simaudio i3.3 amp via pre-outs

The 703's sound quite nice with the Denon/Sim combo...I haven't yet tried the SC-68 in the mix. Whichever receiver doesn't end up with the 703's will be paired up with my Dynaudio Focus 140's.

    Thoughts on combinations are appreciated....

Either is a good combination with the amp. I'd go Pioneer SC-68 + amp personally. It will have a decent natural sound. You can also get a dedicated PRE so you don't have wasted amps in the receiver...
    Main Surround -
    Epson 8350 Projector/ Elite Screens 120" / Pioneer Elite SC-35 / Sunfire Signature / Focal Chorus 716s / Focal Chorus CC / Polk MC80 / Polk PSW150 sub

    Bedroom - Sharp Aquos 70" 650 / Pioneer SC-1222k / Polk RT-55 / Polk CS-250

    Den - Rotel RSP-1068 / Threshold CAS-2 / Boston VR-M60 / BDP-05FD

Sc-68 no amp required. I ran them off a SC-07 with no issues at all. I also drove them with Rotel and B&K.
Neither receiver should be mated with Focus 140's. You require real power IF you want to hear anything they can do. Dynaudio anything doesn't belong on a receiver unless it's high current like a NAD , ROTEL , ARCAM etc. Better suited for separates .

I agree with Mantis that the Focus 140's need more than just a receiver. If the 703's will sound good with the Pioneer than I'll be leaving the Denon to act as a preamp and let the Simaudio handle powering the Dynaudio's. The i3.3 puts out 200 watts into the 4 ohm 140's.

Great review of the 703's Mantis...I enjoyed reading your thoughts and impressions. If your SC07 handled things admirably then I'm hoping my new SC68 will be up to the task.

I'm not sure I know what this means. The receivers are used as the preamp because I need them for decoding. How would a dedicated preamp help or streamline my system?

Usually a Preamp will sound better then a receiver as a pre due to internal shielding , noise , cheaper parts etc.
I don't think the Denon is a good fit for your Dynaudio speakers , actually in my very strong opinion it's not at all. I've owned and Installed Dynauuio and Denon and don't like them together. I believe your not allowing the Dynaudio speakers shine. Your choking them. You can sell the Denon as many love that piece and have speakers that match it better then you do.

Then take that money and buy a NAD T787 receiver which will drive the 140's very well or use your amp and get the NAD T187 preamp. Either way will yield much better results then what you are doing now.
