I've been doing some real listening this evening, and this buffer is amazing top to bottom; it's been quite a while since I had a new component which let me hear new detail and subtlety in my music. More smooth, more dynamic, harshness or grain, more depth, more goodness... :)

I just drank the cool-aide and bought a pair of these for the Dodd Buffer to replace the Sonicaps:

I think you will like the Kool-Aid. Sonicaps are excellent as well. Perhaps these will just be another flavor of Kool-Aid rather than "better" Kool-Aid. I haven't used any of the top end Clarity's but I have used the PW, PX and SA all with great results.

Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. The Sonicaps with Plat bypass are not my first choice, but came with the unit and have a solid sound. I've used the ClarityCaps up through the ESA, but not the MRs yet. I was very tempted to just go with the ESA as it's a great cap regardless of price, but this buffer already has upgraded everything else, so I'll go all in with the caps too.

The MR is a completely different animal. The ESA is just like the SA, but better.

Just installed the MRs (a very tight squeeze), and I'm playing with battery power verses a high current power supply for noise and dynamics.

High current power supply is just as quiet as battery power, but a little more dynamic, and less hassle than a battery and charger system. I'll be putting the battery on the shelf as the power supply has no noise (electrical or mechanical), low heat, and no worry. No having tried this Dodd battery supply, and the Red Wine Audio battery supply, I have not found a benefit of battery power if any one piece of your system is connected to A/C; including the source.
