gdb, of all of the threads in this forum? Leave this one alone. Please post your comments elsewhere and realize that this is real life and real lives lost in a very real situation. Have a little respect and sensitivity toward those whom are directly affected by this storm.

Please do not reply here. Leave this thread to stay on the topic it was intended for. It would be nice if you could leave just this one thread alone without any off topic posts.

Don't the "Arabs" look for this kind of thing to raise gas prices?

That said, as I have seen in the past, there is always some reason (and it seems they use any and every excuse!)to raise prices on something, for every storm that hits the US.
"Had to shut down the "turbo" factory because of the storm".
Therefore, with no "turbo's" the diesel trucks cannot operate properly!
Thus, the corn growers in Wisconsin cannot get the price they are selling at.
Thus the corn refineries are not operating at peak distribution.
Limited "HAIR NET SUPPLIES" at this time, thus the "Truck Drivers that must wear a hairnets cannot drive at this time"!
Therefore, we are "forced to raise our prices at this time"!
Always got a spin!

Power is back on here . Man I hate losing power , it sucks really really bad especially when everything in your house depends on electricity one way or another. Not to mention I depend on it for all of my hobby's , I was going nuts.

I hope all of you who have lost power got it back or will very soon.

I was watching Weather Channel and they were showing the damage to the NYC subway system. Simply unbelievable the amount of damage done. It's not only the amount of water there, but it's sea water. The salt in the sea water hoses up anything electrical, so it's not just a matter of letting it dry.

At one point, they said this storm stretched from the tip of Florida up to Maine...1500 miles!

I feel very VERY fortunate to have made it through this with zero damage.

My goodness, the photos were a real eye opener. I mean, I've been watching the news but I didn't know it was as devastating as it is. Praying for all those effected.

My job is across the street from Battery Park, which was one of the hardest hit areas in NYC. I'm in a office tower but power to the area is off until tomorrow at the earliest. My guess is that I will be able to return to work Friday or Monday depending on the subways. I guess I'll look at this as a unexpected paid vacation. Little to no damage to the concrete neighborhood I live in.
I know folks in NJ that got hit hard. I hope the recovery is quick.

Pretty glad that this one didn't hit hard like Hurricane Ike in 2008. Electricity crews from other states are about to reach the damaged areas, that's good news.

Power never went out, just flickering. Every block near my house has a tree down, I'm on a culldesac and there's a tree down and so me and none of my neighbors can drive out of the culldesac.

No water in the basement, no leaks, So we're all good,

In my neighborhood, those downed tree's would be chopped up already. Everybody helps others in need and thats why I love where I live.

A chainsaw is a must have when living around trees.....so is a firepit.
