Ah yeah, I did read about that. Something about not having your entire music library indexed at once. Sounds like a hassle to me, but then again, I don't have 65k tracks either. Just pointing out the pros/cons of each.

Yes, but than can also be a double edged sword.
Ok, I received the Sonos system and I have connected it.
How do I spool my iTunes music from my Macbook and/or iPhone to the PLAY:5?

Open up the Sonos software on the computer. On the top left is the tab to manage your music. Click and it should give you options to tell Sonos where to look for your music. Click browse, and then click on your Itunes tab from the drop down menu. Then just click add. After you do that, you need to click on the update library tab and it will do so pronto. Everytime you add music to the library, you need to update or you can schedule an automatic update everyday at a certain time if you wish.
Btw, big guy, if you like it, jump on this.

Also has a seperate zp90 for 3 bones.
Once you work your way around the software, download the free services such as Pandora, Songza, even Mog has a free 30 day trial along with some others. I keep Rhapsody, Songza and Pandora along with all my fav. radio stations and of course my own library, but the options are endless. Rhapsody being the only pay service I carry but with over 10 million songs, it makes my own collection somewhat obsolete.
Thanks Tony, I did some research and figured it out 10 mins ago. I'm on a Mac and I needed to share my folders in preferences.
I think I need to set up a NAS again and throw some music on it.

Just make sure you add it to the Sonos so it knows to look at the Nas too. Good luck man, let us know how you like it.
Me and My wife like it so far. It's cool how we can add our own tracks to the current queue.
Eventually I will buy a couple ZP90's to add to my main 2 chan rig and to the basement system. We need to do something also for outside and it the bathroom.

Sal, once you have the ZP90 for the 2 channel rig your done. All you have to do is pick up a Play 5 or Play 3 speaker & put them where you want, plus you can move them around at will. If you want to add your own speakers then you'll need a ZP120 or another ZP90.
For my system I have the ZP90 downstairs in my 2 channel rig, for the lower pool deck I have the ZP120 powering a pair of Polk Atrium 45 speakers. The Play 5 speaker goes all over the house & also used on the top pool deck when needed. For my size house I'm probably done as far as adding anything else. It's a fantastic system & we love it!!!!

Well I just ordered the ZP90 and another Play5 in white for my master bath. I like listening to tunes while in the shower.
I got them directly from Sonos. I didn't want to risk buying a potentially used or broken one just because of a $50 savings.
Now I'll have my 2 channel rig hooked up and one play 5 in the living room and one in the bathroom. All 3 are on different floors. Should be very cool when I'm spooling music to all 3 at the same time.
I'm $1300 in so far. Looks like I'm staying.
Thanks all for your input and thoughts. Much appreciated.
Sal
Not so bad, what does 3 SBT costs ? The way these things integrate and the software is the key part. To move up to a higher end system that doesn't even offer as much your looking at triple that cost. Look at Q-Sonic, Soolos units. For the price of a good amp, he now can stream in 3 different zones with many options. If you want to do one zone, you can get away with 400 clams and be done.
FTGV- Your correct my man, which is why I stated in my own comparison that if I had to do it again, I'd save the coinage. I think a good dac would be of greater importance with the overall sound quality. For along time we drooled over the latest and greatest cdp playing 16/44. It wasn't so much the file on that cd but the recording itself and the associated gear it was played on. Mind you, a native 24/96 is better than an upsampled 24/96, but to me the quality of that recording and the other gear will play a bigger role in what you hear. Just my thoughts on it is all.
I also ordered all units with next day air straight from Sonos. The price for the previous two items was under $20 and these current two items were $22 for FedEx Next Day Air. Not too bad at all. I have tracking numbers and they are coming today by 3pm! Sweet!! :)
lol !
Your up at 1 am. still playing with that sucker aintcha Sal ?

i'm all hooked up!! It's working Great! The white PLAY5 fits on top of my toilet perfectly.
The ZP90 could be a little of a pain because I need to set the volume on my Pre-Amp to a certain level and then use the volume on the Sonos interface.

If your preamp has remote control set the zone to "Fixed". This way you control the volumn from the pre. My stereo zone is set to fixed & I control the volumn thru my Yamaha. My other zones are not set to fixed & the controller/iPhone controls the volumn. Plenty of flexibility there.

On the iPhone on the main menu go to settings, then room settings, then zone (room) where the ZP90 is (however you named it), then Line-Out Level (select either fixed or variable). This is only for use with the ZP90 connection. When set to "Fixed" the pre will control the volumn.

Sure you can, it's in the settings for the zones I believe. I used fixed for the big rig, since I'm usually not wandering and variable for the other so I can control volume on the move.
Once you set a zone to fixed, you lose the volume control from your portable device, in your case the Iphone. Btw....Badlands rocks dude.
I just bought another ZP90!! LOL
This one will be for my Basement system. I'm going to run a couple speakers off my basement amp to my garage. so this 2nd ZP90 will run my basement speakers and garage speakers at the same time.
