Default Parasound 2250 headed this way!

Well, been reading for months about amps that go with my speakers and finally found a deal on a 2250! I'm stoked and can't wait to get it hooked up!!! I know there are good ones out there that are several years old but just didn't feel secure about a deal like that. This one is used but never installed because a project stopped before completion. Can't wait to see what 250wpc and 45amps does with the RTi12s!!! Maybe those woofers will start shakin' a little

    ps just had to share!

If you want my advice, cancel that order, spend a little more and call Frank at Signal Cable and order a set of Signal Cable Analog 2 interconnects. They are ~50 bucks and well worth it (more if you get the bullet plugs which I would recommend if you can afford it). You will thank yourself later as they are very good for their price.

That or see if someones got some MIT EXp1 IC's left from the blowout sale they wouldnt mind selling.

Either of those would be a better bet than the Monoprice. I should know, I got the Monoprice Premium RCA's, moved to Signal Cable, then MIT and now am moving to Kimber Kable PB&J (also a good choice).

Spend around 50-100 bucks on good interconnects and you will be glad you did.

P.S. we get a discount at Signal Cable if you mention your a CP member.

P.P.S. your ears might not bleed but your gonna be grinning ear to ear

I understand, but find a way to budget 50 bucks for the Signals or used MIT EXp1's if you can. It doesnt have to be right now if you cant swing it, but dont use the Monoprice ones forever.

Also be very careful as the premium ones pulled the ground plug off my RCA connection on my Carver amp, twice actually. They have a "death" grip so if you can get the really cheap like 50 cent ones, go for those over the more expensive premium ones. Had both, the cheapest ones (all black with no special RCA plug) were very easy to connect and disconnect.

With the monoprice "premium" RCAs, twisting them slowly while plugging/un-plugging helps.

Also, this is strange, but after disconnecting a set I had hooked up once and never touched, they were much easier to connect/disconnect. I think the connectors "loosen up" a bit when they have been connected for a while, so they do get easier to plug and unplug eventually.

Also regarding the Signal Cable bullet plugs, this may be of interest - I emailed inquiring about them a while back when I was shopping around for cables, and the gentlemen that answered actually recommended against using them as he cited the connection not being as good and the build quality lacking. (i.e. ground "pin" inside the bullet connector getting pushed in and no longer making contact)

I agree, I went from free rca cables, to cheap rca cables, to signal cables. Made quite a bit of difference all around, if you're going to do such a nice upgrade like that amp i'd highly recommend getting the most out of it. Signal cables are a great bang for the buck IC.

You don't have to be and audiophile, simply tell us what you hear differently. Pick songs that you THINK you know extremely well and listen and be amazed at the difference, and tell us about it.

The Mono's will do quite well for now, don't sweat them, just sit back and enjoy your new system curtesy of that great amp!

I have the same amp and like you I moved from an AVR to the amp/avr combo. One thing you may experience is ground loop hum (your tweeters may hiss a bit with no program material running), I used a cheater plug to get around it. There are other fixes just do a search on this forum if you experience it. You WILL notice a big difference, put one hell of a smile on my face the first time I fired mine up - now I'm wondering what an even better amp will do.

Ground loop hum is very, very common with seperates. Like Obsession18 said, just use an ungrounded plug adapter and it cures it right away in most cases.

Well the 2250 has a ground lift switch for this very thing so maybe that'll work if there's a hum. Fingers crossed!

A cheater plug is just a cheap 3 prong to 2 prong adaptor, or 2 prong to 3 prong (maybe). I forget which as its Friday and my brain is FRIED! They are like 1 buck at walmart.

I, too, recently picked up an HCA 1500A for my 4 ohm LSi9s, and based on my experience, I would agree that OP has a very enjoyable experience ahead of him.

Snake, go pick up a 3 to 2 prong plug like this http://www.amazon.com/Prong-prong-gr.../dp/B000I96AUM just to have on hand if you get the dreaded hum after plugging in your amp. I had a Parasound 1500A that intoduced me to this annoyance and this nice cheap plug made it go away. Are there more expensive ways of getting rid of it? Of course there are, but I prefer this way instead.

There is one on EBAY right now i am thinking about bidding on.... Here is an example of a "cheater plug". I always include on of these when i sell a PSW1000 with a dayton amp because 70% of the time they pick up noise..

I bought a fairly high quality set of interconnects at Blue Jeans Cable, an on line store. Very satisfied too.

I had a Parasound 1500A that intoduced me to this annoyance and this nice cheap plug made it go away. Are there more expensive ways of getting rid of it? Of course there are, but I prefer this way instead.
I'll check them out. Maybe see if I can pick one up at Lowes or walmart.

I've heard of blue jeans cables, what are they about? What makes them good?

I've had my 2250 and 5125 four 6 months and adsolutely love them. I don't know if you can do much better in new condition for the money. I've owned Adcom (545,555), Denon POA-1500 amps before, and I would choose the Parasound any day. The Adcom's were a little grainy with my RTI's. The Denons were a bit too laid back. The Parasounds are just right. Enjoy and post your thoughts after some critical listening!

Actually, Monoprice is the place many people go to for cables and speaker wire. Blue Jeans Cable seems to make many of their of own cables, custom made to your order. Just another choice of many out there.
