Picked up a JVC X30/ RS45 projector today

Well just got done humphing this huge heavy box up a flight of stairs and shall load a few picks up. This is JVC's entry level and the cheapest (if you can call it that ) model they offer in the 2012 line up. The contrast on this thing is 50000:1 native and totally beats the crap out of the Epson 5010 I owned in every way. I have some glasses coming from Amazon that are RF so they dont mess with the remotes. With the Epson 5010 in 3D I lost all control of the volume on the pre or anything with an IR signal. Tonight I will be doing a shootout with the other projector I bought on Friday, the Optoma gt750 720p 3D dlp model to see if a cheapo projector can best the high ticket JVC for the best 3D experience

Here we have the packaging, seems nice and snug. The little box has a remote that feels nice and rubbery textured unlike the usual hard slippy plastic. Also the instruction manual and warranty card to fill. It has a two year and 90 days on the bulb

Man this thing is a monster compaired to anything else I have had. I will be nervous with this 42 lb beast sitting above my head on a mount that..... I am going to have to install I put a cd just to give you an idea of how large it is

Ok out of the box it comes and I will rest it on the couch next to the Optoma gt750 mentioned on the op. Its crazy the fact the the Optoma has 3000 lumens compared to the JVC's 1300 yet the size diff is incredible, It makes the Optoma look like a little toy

One more pic as I cant help laugh at the Optoma's size. I will load a pic up of the glasses when the arrive today. I think for comparison sake I will get some decent shots of the darbee's effect on these projectors if I have time. It will be interesting on the JVC as they have a higher pixel fill than the LCD tech in the Epson 5010. With the Epson 5010 I always thought it made the image too hard and less film like but it works great on the DLP optoma

JVC's have the best black levels of any projector in it's price range and no dynamic iris to deal with. I have a RS40 and a theater that is about 50% done... one step forward, two steps back.. making me nuts..

Well I thought you did not know the definition of humphing but apparently I gave you too much credit. I meant pictures but wrote picks instead of pics but you already know that and your just being silly. If you don't have the common sense to figure that out and it makes your brain hurt as you say then good luck with the rest of your time on the forum

When I bought my darbee the price went up by around $50 3 days later. What model of Epson do you have again? When I think back to selling the 8100 and then bringing in a 5010 then bar 3D I was left with a feeling of where did all my money go as the upgrade was not as great as I thought. This years 5020 has a marginal improvement but still no frame interpolation for 3D

Well the glasses are here and they are on the large side, way bigger than the Epson 5010 or Sony ones I had. I feel like Austen Powers with these on and have come to the conclusion that I need a haircut

3D sucks on both pj's using the monster vision IR

I thought the Monster Vision glasses were RF. Their setup will convert the IR signal out of the projector's transmitter into RF. Then from the RF transmitter you can adjust the timing on the glasses to perfectly lineup with what your projector is doing. There are a number of movies you can pause at a specific place and adjust the timing on the glasses until you get the ghosting and such to go away.

If you pop over to the AVS boards, Zombie10k has done extensive testing with just about every brand of 3D glasses out there. At the time there was no way to directly plug the Monster RF setup into the projector but someone came up with a cable you can make to adapt it and dump JVC's IR transmitter. This was on the RS40 and I can't quite remember what the RS45 has built in.

It has been found that the JVC's are not the best for 3D. A DLP or the Sony HW30 are an excellent choice for 3D. The Sony wins out for the best all around projector. DLP's are the best for 3D, and the JVC have a noticeable advantage in picture quality over the Sony.

I will load up some pictures of the testing, maybe I should do a review thread for the jvc. The optoma comes with an rf emitter but for some reason the monsters only had an IR. I just took the emitter from the Optoma box that I had placed in storage and it looks as its the same cord that plugs into the Vesa port. So hopefully I can get a better ghost free result later tonight

You won't be disappointed. JVC's PQ is really hard to beat. The native contrast kills the active lens imitators. I think my RS2 is only 30K contrast but still throws an amazing pic. Don't be afraid to get the pic tuned.
