I am glad to see I am not the only one who has no idea how to use Bookmarks to resume a Bluray where it stops. I bought Limitless and it is one of the Blurays that will not resume play where stopped, so each night I need to restart the movie and skip forward until I find where I shut down the Oppo 93 after pausing the movie.

Thinking about just keeping them. Have been putting them to good use after I opened the center last week and I'm loving them. They do so many things right.

I'll be down by you for our family reunion in the July. I'll hit you up when it gets closer.

This was explained earlier. Not all Blurays support that. That is how DVDs operate and some Blurays, but not all Blurays. For those Blurays the Bookmark feature is rquired, but Oppo left it out of the manual.

Please, I need connection help. Want to split A/V. Here's what I think needs to be done. Uverse hdmi out>oppo hdmi in; then, oppo hdmi 1>tv hdmi in; then, oppo hdmi 2> avr Hdmi BD.

Is this right? Seems strange there's no need to connect avr hdmi out>tv hdmi in. Want music, tv and movie audio to run through avr and video straight to tv.

Wife wants to being to play movies and CDs tomorrow, so a quick response will be very much appreciated.

I was just reading another post about a Rolling Stone Bluray-Ray audio disk of their Grrrr release. Does anybody know if the Oppo 105 can play BR audio and send it out the analog ports, or does it have to go out over the HDMI link?

Damn! Now I have to buy a 105 for the two-channel system. Of course, that means I also need to buy a Shunyata Ztron power cord, either Shunyata or MIT inter-connects, and a set of Mapleshade brass footers. In other words, to play a $20 BR disk, I need to spend 4k to 5k. At this rate I am never going to be able to retire.

I just read that Celebration Day is also in a BR audio format. Having a dedicated BR music player is getting more appealing. Are you listening Santa?

The beauty of these Oppos besides the quality for the money is the versatilty.I have it hooked through my HT digitally and run the analogs through my 2 channel so whatever and however you want to listen to and/or watch the DVD etc is up to you.

This is why I bought mine. It seemed a bit on the pricey side going in but when you figure it eliminated the need for an AVR it starts looking pretty reasonable.

I do not have the room (or desire) for two systems. This sucker stepped in and everything started working together. I was surprised to discover how difficult it could be to convert multi-channel audio to two channel and how much program material was lost when doing it badly. I consider this money well spent.

I am looking to get a refurbished 95. Can I hook the 5.1 analog outs to my HT setup and the stereo outs to my 2 channel rig? Both setups are within a few feet of each other. Only one would be in use at any given time.

I just got a reply from Oppo CS. They said all the outputs are on all the time, so there would be no problem with a dual hookup. So I took the plunge and ordered a 95 refurbished for $800. This is the most I have ever spent on a audio product so I hope it will work out.

Jim 249, I almost went with a used 95, but decided to just go with the 103 since I'm using it mainly for HT. Footwedge, I tried hooking my 103 up like you described. Unfortunately, by using the HDMI 1(video only) out from the 103 to the tv, I was unable to see my on screen display from the avr. Since I also have the PS3 slim hooked up to the avr for games, I just ran another HDMI cable to the second hdmi input on the tv. Now I can switch inputs on the tv for video feed.

Not adding much here .... besides that I ordered my Oppo-105 on Saturday as well as the 105 Pro Mod chip from Denmark so that I can watch some Bluray discs not released in North America. Would be nice to get a 105 for my 2 channel but that is too rich for my blood. Maybe when Oppo releases their next high end player the 105 can go down to the 2 channel system and the future 115 into the Home Theater rig

I am pretty excited about this upgrade as I have been running BD discs on a PS3 way too long .... hard to call yourself a home theater aficionado when you have a video game system running the show! Finally I can leave my self-shame at the door

The ps3 is actually a very good blu ray player. Also considering how long they been out they were ahead of the game. Look at all the other Bluray players from 7 years ago. The oppos are very nice indeed.

Thought I would add something on this thread about Oppo's customer service.

My 3 yr old BDP-83SE started to freeze up playing any format. They had me send it to them and the total cost would be 79.00 plus shipping to them. They would do any repairs needed and ship it back for that 79.00. If they found it just needed cleaning, they would perform that at a much reduced price.

Turns out my laser head had worn itself out. They replaced the disc loader assembly (which houses the laser head), cleaned the unit and shipped it back to me. I had it back in my hands only 48 hrs after they received it. Now I must admit I only live about 100 miles from them, but I still think that is an excellent turn around time. Communications with them doing some troubleshooting before shipping to them was also excellent. Bottom line here is you can expect help from this company at a resonable price even after the warranty has expired.

Here's a link ( http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/t...po-blu-ray-q-a ) which discuss some of the upgrades from older units (including my issue).

PS3 is in excellent blu-ray player, especially considering that (so far) it is infinitely upgradeable. For example, new firmware comes out and all of a sudden it supports Netflix 1080p/5.1, whereas Oppo's chip manufacturer has declined a new firmware for this type of support on 93/95 models.
On the other hand, I couldn't be any happier with BDP-93. It really excels as a real universal do-it-all player, which does everything extremely well, whereas PS3 would do everything, but do it just OK.

Seeing your post made me do something similar. I ran an cable direct to the tv from hdmi 1 on my 93 and one to the receiver from hdmi 2. The manual suggests the picture should be superior.

Thought I'd run this past those of us who have the Oppo BDP-103 players. I was reading on AVS thread for Oppo BDP-103 players (I'm up to page 158) that some owners have noticed that, by adjusting the sharpness in the Oppo menu to +1 instead of leaving it at 0, makes a noticable improvement in picture quality. I'm going to check this out tonight on my system. Apparently, going to +2 degrades the PQ.

I've got mine set at +1 for sharpness. When you go into that screen on settings, watch the little stars under the Oppo banner change as you adjust. Oppo is saying right now (they're getting lots of queries on this) that the QDEO chip has 4 basic sharpness settings, Off, Low, Med and High. That's why below 0 and above 3 the adjustments appear very minor. I think a lot of people would find 0 too soft, and +1 too bright. Oppo is presently trying to see if they can do something to come up with a .5 adjustment for a firmware update, but with that chip they may be out of luck. I think it's up to you where you place the adjustment at this time. Depending on your eyes and equipment, you may like 0 or +1. I think +2 goes too far and starts to look very processed. Let us know what setting works for you Polkie...

Thanks for the quick reply TR, I'll try watching the little stars under the Oppo banner you suggested. That method sounds like it works a lot better than what I tried, lol. What I did last night was pausing a part of a blu ray movie scene , adjusting the sharpness setting in the Oppo menu under video settings and seeing if it improved or worsened the PQ. I used a disc of Doctor Who season Six , which probably wasn't a good choice because it's actually done in 1080i,lol. I'll try again tonight when I have more time with a 1080P movie.

For anyone interested: I had an issue where my Oppo 103 would read hybrid SACDs as CDs (sometimes). I narrowed it down to one bad actor disc (Brothers In Arms), and was willing to blame the disc. This was a bug at one point that Oppo fixed with the last version of firmware (which I was running). They were not willing to let it go as "one bad disc" and offered a new Loader secton of the firmware designed for the 105 to me. Installed last night and completely cleared up any issues. What a fantastic company to deal with in this day and age of "see ya" after you buy their product.
