    Default KLH model 331

    http://charlotte.craigslist.org/ele/3441609914.html

It's cheap enough if they are in any kind of decent condition, but I couldn't find much information about them. Possibly a European model similar to the Model 6 (which I owned many years ago). But the one photo I found showed a different driver config.

Does anyone have any info on them?

Did a quick search and found this on audioasylum:

The 3XX series of speakers came out in the early 80's. AS KLH was declining in quality. The 317, 331, are replacements for the 17 and 31 air suspension designs. The 3XX series were all bass relex (Acoustic Compliance Control)with a cheap foam suspension (CTS ?) woofer. They were also vinly covered, instead of wood veneer.

Probably an OK speaker for a garage system. But as said. No longer classic KLH!

If you want to check for "classic" N.E. speakers just refer to this site. It will tell you what is kosher and what is not! That said, I'm a big Henry Kloss fan (have some KLH 17s, Original Advents, and the more recent CSW Model Six in the collection).

Thanks, guys. Doesn't sound like it's worth my time even if they are cheap. And cnh, I will check out the link.

BTW, I used to own the AR 2ax, the AR 4 and later the AR 7's back when they were "new". I will always remember the 2ax fondly, but can't remember much about the other two models, so they mustn't have impressed me much.

I think I had a JVC and later a Kenwood silver face integrated amp with all 3 sets, as well as when I had the KLH 6's. Had maybe 40wpc or so. Not much power but it sounded pretty good.

My first system included a pair of Marantz Imperial 6's as they were cheaper than the original Large Advents, which weren't allowed to be sold at a discount. I wound up selling the 6's and buying the Advents, which I was happy with until I heard ADS (Braun) L700's. Bought these and liked 'em alot until I heard Polk RTA 12C's at a dealer. Bought these and still use 'em (modded of course )

I'm sad to say that I never sold the ADS - I donated them to a thrift store This was before I knew anything about mods and one of them had a blown driver or two.

KLH is a piece of cake. If the model number has more than two digits, it's a pass every time.
