Before ya'll go nuts polishing your speakers, keep in mind that a high gloss sheen in a HT rig may become quite distracting.

F1- I can agree with that. I think it is just the luster of potentially doing something new. I am sure it may be somewhat distracting if your lighting would be reflecting off of them.

But, they look so ................. shiny!!!

I guess you have a valid point, but at the same time there are folks currently sporting speakers with gloss finish. So, I guess they are happy with that finish and for them distraction is not an issue.

In my case, I should take care of 2 pairs of A9's and two SVS PB13-Ultra's. So, I'll have to pass..............at this moment....

It's the picture reflections on the inside panels of the speaker cabinets that I was speaking of.

Very nice job they look really nice..
For those that are worried about the high gloss bothering you, my speakers are high gloss and my buddy commented on the gloss being distracting to him as his speakers are not high gloss BUT now he comes over a wishes he had bought the high gloss version as they just look so much better than a dull looking cabinet..IMO
Unless you like dull looking, lol

If you're looking at the speakers (including the reflections) while watching a movie, you are missing the entire point.

That's just it I don't look at the speakers unless I want too..
It's like you TV most big screen panels are shiny black and you can see the reflection of the TV on the TV, but like I said you get used to it very quickly.
But I'm in my basement which is darker anyway I have my TV backlit with tube lights and I don't get bothered by the shiny gloss..
I think going from dull to Gloss takes a few days and it's like it never happened..

How can you not look at the reflections on the speakers? If they are in your line of sight, you will see them, no?
At the risk of arguing for arguments' sake, I guess you can get used to anything though...
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

Well if I'm watching TV my Center channel is below my TV so in my chair I look up a tad to my TV plus the lights are off like I said I have my TV backlit..
At first I noticed the glare a bit but I also noticed the Beauty of the speakers which quickly took over the glare, and in 2 channel I always look at my speakers and TT and audio stuff.
No need to argue as I'm quite certain I'm not the only person to have high gloss speakers in their HT setup..lol
Like you said you can get used to anything if you leave it long enough.

    I'm sorry I don't get your " aren't you special" comment.
    Did I say something wrong?

As for my next degree of listening I only close my eyes when I'm really critically listening to hear a difference in things but 95% of the time I'm just enjoying the music looking at my speakers and gear because its looks Awesome..especially the Piano Gloss Studio 100'sClick image for larger version

No, you are definitely not the only person who has hi-gloss speakers in their HT. I just have not heard many make an issue about reflections being present, yet also maintaining that you can get used to them (or ignoring them). Just MHO, nothing more.

That said, I must say I am rather impressed with your setup. My experience with Paradigms have been limited to listening to my bro-in-laws Mini-Monitors, which sound very good for their size/price range; I imagine those 100s are more than adequate for HT.

I have to ask, why is your TT on the floor?
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

Jhayman, I would not pay attention to F1nut's clearly disrespectful comment.

Allow me to help you enjoy your 2 channel to a degree you have yet to obtain, listen with your eyes closed.
He is in the 27K post club which allows him special privilege to bash other's either for their lack of knowledge, questioning anything he say's or not having the "best equipment like him".

As far as the reflection goes from a glossy speaker system I guess you can limit most of it by slightly adjusting the angle of speakers to point directly more at the listeners/viewers to obtain the sweet spot as much as you can. With the angle you would almost completely take out the reflection on the side of your speakers from the TV ect.. I do notice you have your speakers slightly turned in also... Also, your set up look great.

Now I await the critique from Mr 27K...

How you managed to twist my trying to help him reach a higher level of listening enjoyment into a something disrespectful is beyond me, but then again, judging by your comments above you're all about being disrespectful.

Seriously? You got all that ^^^ from his posts in this thread?

All I saw was a word of caution regarding polishing speakers (he is the wood Jedi, after all), and the subsequent reasons behind that advice. Everything that followed was a reaction to a simple, helpful comment > "Unless you like dull looking". In other words, that bit of advice is worthless, get out the polishing wheel and get to it.

While I get where you're coming from, Eclypse, there still seems to be a pattern forming...

The 100's combined with the CC-690 Center is an awesome combination for HT, and the 100's are Great for 2 channel as well.
As for reflections I have no issue at all I was merely commenting on F1nut's post about cautioning people on using shiny speakers on HT.
To Poolgod69 I really did not take offence to his post, I was only wondering about the first comment and what he meant?

No body's twisting anything. Condescending comments like "aren't you special", and comments like "Allow me to help you enjoy your 2 channel to a degree you have yet to obtain, listen with your eyes closed" just make you look pompous and ignorant.

Just because he doesn't mention he's listened with his eyes closed shows that you take for granted that he hasn't. But don't let that stop you, this isn't the first time I've seen you react out of ignorance. Your vast experience overrides any courtesy to actually ask someone weather or not they've tried a particular strategy or what ever it is you've last jumped to conclusions over.

But you know, to actually help someone without the ridicule is highly overrated.
