Default RTA 11TL's - what do I need to know

So I am going to be picking up the RTA 11TL's dracoskeeper listed to use in place of my Polk Monitor 60's in my office. I have a very small space measuring 10x11. The plan is for these to be in the corners on the 11' wall.

Is there anything I need to be aware of regarding these speakers setup wise? I cant move them out too far into the room from the wall and have maybe 6 inches to play with there.

Do these normally require toe it, etc?

Just wanted to be ablet to set these up as quickly as possible so I can get maximum listening time on em the day I pick em up .

Are the 11TL's 6 ohm or 8 ohm speakers? I was assuming they were 8 as thats what Polks site lists em at but I am finding some references to them being 6 ohm.

Also IIRC they can have RDO's installed (which I may or may not do). If this is the case which tweeter would I use and what are the costs for it?

Obviously I wont know if I want to do the tweeter upgrade till I hear em, or I may do it just because depending on the cost.

The 11t's are 6 ohm, the 11tl's are 8 ohm. Wow, that's a small room for those...

Good, I was hoping that would be the case. The tube amp can handle 6 ohms, but I prefer 8 ohms so I dont stress it at all...

Yes it is, but its what I got for now. I can always carry em downstairs if I wanted to (when the wife is out and about).

I am hoping the 18-20 watts per channel of tube power will be enough to make em sound good.

This rig will hopefully last for a long time....

i like my 11T's slightly toed in. and my room is only a smidge larger.
both are in corners, 6 inches off of each adjacent wall. my room is not ideal, but this seems to give me the best imaging and bass.

i will be anxious to hear what you think. mine have a very large soundstage, and the tweets are a perfect height for me in a chair at my desk.

    Good to know Steve!

PS here is my new listening chair

It was custom made by one of my uncles last week. It's as sturdy as it comes! Almost untippable

    almost, huh???

she's a beaut! your uncle has some talent.

my room is also hard and untreated still. plaster walls, wood floors but a large center rig, and two office desks... i need to work on that next but have no idea where to start. i assume yours is more of a listening room?

I've come to the conclusion that the only way you get a decent listening room is to build it yourself. In every house we've owned/lived in all the rooms left much to be desired. Not because of the treatments but because of the layouts, although the "decor" didn't help.

Anyway, enjoy those 11tl's. I used to have a pair long ago, nice speakers as long as you don't push them like I did. Ah, the younger, more foolish days of youth. Blew all four drivers out of those...

That is a rather small room for the RTA11TL's as they do like some breathing room; not a show stopper though. I would toe them in a little to get the sweet spot where you are seated for listening. That power should be fine. Yes, they are 8 ohms. My RTA11TL's are able to fill my family room and kitchen (26' x 14') with full sound even at low volume.

The RDO-198 tweeter is definitely a worthwhile upgrade as is upgrading the crossover caps and resistors. The sound stage becomes much more open and dimensional. Dynamat the MW and PR baskets too.
