    Thumbs up Added these to my Polk collection -- Polk SDA-2B :-)

    I posted a deal post for these in another thread but looks like they were meant for myself. ;)
    These were listed for $299 along with a center and two surround speakers.
    http://denver.craigslist.org/ele/3436802043.html
    [QUOTE]Polk Audio SDA-2 Speakers - $299 (Arvada, CO)
    Date: 2012-11-26, 5:20PM MST
    b2dtb-3436802043@sale.craigslist.org[?]
    Bought these speakers without consulting the wife and... well they got to go.
    Speakers are in decent cosmetic condition with some water stains on the top of the cabinet (pictured) and some usual cosmetic issues for a speaker of this age.
    These do include the SDA array cable (rare to find with these speakers) and they sound great.
    I can throw in a center speaker and a pair of surrounds to sweeten the deal (all Polk) with right offer.
    Please help to return marital harmony. [QUOTE]

    Initial offer was rejected but we worked on it and I got them today along with CS-250S center and two RT15i surround speakers that have power ports.
    There are few chips and wood chunk peeling on the top wood, few grill pegs broken but overall in good condition.
    These are freakin heavy at 90 lbs each for speakers that only use two mid drivers.

    The seller used to sell Polk speakers back in the day.

    The 2b is IMO the 2nd best speaker in the SDA/SRS Line. I hope it will help you get over the loss of your CRS+ ;)

    2nd best to the biggest one?
    Briefly listened to them and while they sound similar to CRS+, these felt better and way more bass.
    Me like. :) Will test more when neighbors are away.

    Due to space limitations, I could not have these, RTA-12C and Boston A400's in living room.
    So I moved RTA-12C upstairs and now have these and A400.
    Not good placement for SDA's but it'll have to do for now until I move out of here.

    Hard to imagine the SDA 1B's are only 5 more pounds??

    Got it!
    Seller knew a lot about Polks including 1.2's and SRT systems so I just went by what seller said.

    They are heavy suckers.
    I had to call a friend to move them into the house.
    Don't want to break my already messed up back.

    What's amazing is CRS+'s sound not far behind in much smaller and lighter cabinets.
    However, I noticed SDA effect is better on SDA-2B's than CRS+'s.
    Stereo and PR are different but dimensional driver is same.

    CRS+ --> 10 1/8" D X 20" W X 12 3/4" H ------> 35 lbs each. Total Frequency Response: 24Hz - 26kHz
    SDA-2B--> 11 1/2" D X 15 7/8" W x 38 1/2" H --> 80 lbs each.

    Also, I felt SDA-2B's have better/more bass than RTA-12C's but I haven't A/B'ed them too much.
    What is the frequency response range of SDA-2B's?

    And even better on the SDA 1B's and that just may depend on the room size?? The SDA effect is awesome in all of them...to me anyway!! Congrats again.

    I totally identify with that problem. Hence my SDAs are currently in the closet while the Jolida below powers some JBL L80ts (yeah I know, JBL--not big on this site. But if you're going to own some. I recommend this series).

    i have to disagree.. while the 2b's are nice.. they don't give enough for me at least of the SDA effect.. i think the SDA 1C is the best of the SDA's IMHO

    the extra height and extra pair of drivers make the 1C a really good SDA line speaker..

    I already have JBL LX500,L16,L26,L36 and L166 in my arsenal and L166's are in a closet for now as it shakes neighbor's walls before I can listen anything.

    Of those two, I'd take a pair of modded 2BTL's over a pair of modded 1C's any day and twice on Sunday.

    Seems the SDA 1 B's and C's only differ in cabinet? Both have the tweets stacked up and down/not side by side as the SDA 1's have going on.

    Great!
    TL'ing plan is in the future.
    I am sorting out speakers to figure out what to keep and what to pass on but will hold on to these and RTA-12C until I get chance to upgrade crossovers.
    From brief listening session, I still feel A400's really shine compared to all Polk's I have.
    Polks seem like veiled or recessed, lacking some details that A400's have.

    That's interesting. Could be crossovers for sure, because, don't yours have the SL-2000 tweeter. If those tweeters are anything they're certainly brighter and more forward than what's in the B.A.s. I should know, I have a pair of A100s with the same tweets and SDAs with the old tweeter.

    Placement on SDAs is "critical"! Bostons will sound fine up against almost any wall.

    Placement sucks right now that's why I'm keeping some of these until I can properly test them.
    But even RTA-12C without SDA feels like veiled compared to A400's.
    It's not highs as I can hear Polks highs ringing everywhere.
    It could be the mids as A400's sound so open and free while Polks sound like they are under pressure or something covering them.
    I don't know how to describe that.
    May be I'll have to lug A400's and Polks to Larry's place so he can explain better.

IMPO, so schematics shamatics, that's for admitting you didn't exactly know without sending me off to look at some Japanese diagrams I wouldn't understand anyway?? I know what I like to look at and listen to, so first to admit I am no smartie with the technical side, but I still dig mt SDA'a! Thanks again for that great tip!

    Side panels in few places have un-glued and few grill peg heads are broken off.

    I'll swap Boston and SDA-2B so the SDA's will be parallel to each other and back wall.
    If I move SDA-2B's few inches in front of everything, they have kinda better placement as they will have more than 3 feet on their side.

    So (I gather) there is not a way to TL the 1C's?
    But if there was wouldn't the 1C's be better?

    No, there is not.

    No way to tell, eh?

    Yes A400's are taller and wider than SDA-2B's but notice that they are only 7.25 inches deep.
    A400 -----> 41 H x 21 W x 7.25 D.
    SDA-2B --> 39.62 H x 16.56 W x 115 D

    Arranged them a little better.
    My listening position is little weird due to odd Fireplace placement.
    So the best I could do was to move SDA's back 7" from wall and few inches in front of other speakers as mentioned in the SDA manual.
    This greatly enhanced sweet spot to my listening position and sounded much better than previous arrangement.
    Now my listening position is exactly in the middle of the two SDA's and can feel more effect.
    These definitely are better than CRS+.
    I'll also plan on removing the audio rack and push A400 in that corner so all of them will be against the wall with SDA's few inches in front.
