Just wondering if folks think the Geo Disc is an accurate cart alignment device, and how it stacks up relatively speaking to other methods out there as far as a precise alignment. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I have one and like it. It works very well. I also have an etched mirror style that I bought on Ebay for $10 which also works very well. I've also had very good success with the downloadable ones on Vinyl Engine. The downloadable ones require you to check to make sure you're getting the image printed at 100% which is no big deal. The etched mirror and the Geo disc are my fav's.

I have used the Mint, which is excellent. I just ordered a Feickert for my new tonearm, it looks great and gets great reviews. I went with the Feickert because I did not want to purchase a new Mint for every arm/TT that I have. Also, there is a guy on Audioasylum that can make a really nice custom protractor for you. The Feickert and Mint are very, very accurate, definitely worth the money if you are serious about vinyl.

No question about the Feickert being one of the best. It has served me well as I moved between many different tables and arms. Great for marking to drill or checking pivot to spindle distance with any arm. You grow to love articulated arm pods when trying different arms. ;) Just loosen and turn.
The Geo Disc is good. I also like the HiFi News Test LP as it comes with a nice ptotractor and one of the best turntable setup records. Both the Geo/HiFi are around the same price.

Other than I can't spell protractor, forgot to add the HiFi News actually has three different protractors on it for three different types of alignment, with one matching the Geo.

Thanks guys, I've used the downloadable ones but I want to get more precise. I wondered if the Geo Disc was a lot more precise than the downloadable ones, but it sounds like perhaps I should just go up to the Mint or the Feickert as I want to get very precise.
Thats pretty serious. IIRC the new Feickert offers Lofgren, Baerwald and Stevenson. The previous tool did Lofgren and Baerwald. Some reading if you were not familiar with the terms.

That is why I liked the HiFi News protractor as it gave you different setup choices.
EDIT:
If anyone thinks there isn't anything to debate in vinyl, they are not digging deep enough.![]()

The Geodisc is nowhere near as accurate as a Mint or Feickert. Like I said, if you are serious about vinyl, the Feickert is a wise investment.

Feickert I say. GEodisc is OK but Freickert is a better choice if you have the funds
