I hope you have your tweeters and crossovers upgraded first.

If you're gonna go all out, why bother with 30 year old electrolytic capacitors and outdated tweeters.

Nothing but the best on these girls Larry. That's why I will be needing your help.

I am looking at redesigning that crossover plate and integrating the tweeter array into a more modern look. I would like to get a finish like pioneer uses in the faceplates of their Elite line for these parts and also the adjustable foot system.

I can just imagine a 1.2 cabinet with all of the beautiful wood finished to that quality of finish. They would be something to behold!

Yep... I think a piano black baffle with that sexy wood finish backing things up would be sexy as hell. Looking at an urushi finish for the crossover cover and rings around the driver's outer edge to complete the look..

Yeah... I have looked at it and still cant figure it out. The problem is maintaining the required 6.725 CF in a curved shape. The two things I cannot compromise on is getting the internal volume and the front baffle 100% correct. If either of those are off by the smallest of margins, this will be an expensive failure of EPIC proportion.

Others have tried and failed because they tried to reinvent the wheel. I just want to make a better wheel.

I will do just that sir^^^ It would also be nice if my fingers weren't so damn dyslexic today. The internal volume should be 6.375 CF.(lol)

    I doubt it.

There is no guarantee that 6.375 was the ABSOLUTE OPTIMUM cabinet volume to begin with. We already know that the front baffle/driver spacing has a range of possible spacings, based on the 1B/1C front baffle vs. SRS 2 front baffle. The speaker you're improving probably wasn't "100% correct" to begin with, so making yours "100% correct" based on previous work may be a fallacy. The speaker you're improving was a compromise of a hundred different things, and they chose what they believed would work best at that time, with the tools they had, where they were, to make a sale-able product for people who lived in the 1990's. All that is different now.

The downside here is that you don't have a team of engineers, top-flight computing power, and the capital to produce numerous prototypes for listening tests. I understand that there's an enormous amount of work that can be saved simply by copying the specs--but not the construction or the materials--of the previous cabinet.
