DSW mircro Pro1000 will a AVR w/ 12V trigger turn this sub on

Hello all I have the DSW mircro Pro1000 sub. the sub sounds good however it has a mind of it's own on/off issuses.

I currently use a Harmony 700 remote to turn the sub on and off.

I do understand that the sub. itself doe'snt have a 12Volt trigger, if I had a amp w/ a 12Volt trigger and set the subs rear switch to standby would the sub. turn on/off w/ the amps. 12V trigger?

when you copy and pasht "Smart sensing circuitry knows when to turn itself on and off." I'll thinking this only applies to the 2000 &3000 subs that have the 12V trigger I guess the main ? is do both the amp and sub have to have the 12V trigger.

or can the 1000 rear switch be set to stand by and the amps 12V trigger will turn it on /off?
actualley I currently have a couple steps above entry level amp. the Yamaha RXV465 it doe'snt have the 12V trigger.

I recently upgraded my front mains from Polk M30s (which sound good for what they are) to Def. Tech SM450, my Polk CS1 CC to Def. Tech C1 and added surrounds Def Tech pro 80 MK2 new speakers sound awesome however I'm thinking that I'm not hearing the full potentionale of these DTs w/ current amp.

I'm concidering upgrading my amp. from 105watts X 5 none discrete power at .9% distrotion to the YamahaRXV1800 130watts X7 discrete clean power at .04% distrotion.
this better amp has the 12V trigger it would be a major plus if the sub. would turn on and off alone w/ the amp.

The info I posted is copied directly off of the spec sheet of the 1000 sub. Check the back to see it there's a switch & if not then maybe Polk CS can explain why the sub doesn't do what they claim it does. Other than that good luck.

I have a DSWpro 500 and 550, if you set it to auto it will come on when it senses a signal and it will turn off around 15 miins after your amp turns off or if it doesn't sense a signal of the frequency you set it to. So if you have it set up so that the sub will handle 40Hz and below and your source doesn't provide that frequency very often you will see the sub switch off.

Have you tried boosting the subwoofer gain/level on the AVR side and decreasing it on the subwoofer?

Since your subwoofer doesn't have a 12v trigger, you may be able to get a similar effect by setting the subwoofer to always on and using a surge protector with a sensing circuit that sends power to certain outlets when a master device is powered on (AVR or amplifier). I have been using a Tripp Lite ECO.

After rereading the question multiple times, a more appropriate answer would be: No, the subwoofer on/off cycle will not be affected by a 12v trigger since the micropro 1000 doesn't support the 12v trigger. Try increasing the subwoofer output on your receiver or getting a surge protector similar to the one I mentioned above, if you want tighter control of your subwoofer's power cycle

ambiophonics and blehmbo you Guys are corect this sub probabley won't turn it's self on.

I looked at the back switch there is'nt a standby however there is a audio sense part of switch. also there is'nt a 3.5mm plug for a 12V trigger.

I still like the little sub. it fits my TV cabinet and puts out plently of base for TV and music.

Did you turn the AC main to on and set the power switch to auto. If you do that the sub will turn on when it senses a signal and off 15 mins after there is no signal.

are you saying that the switch set at auto sense and AC to main even w/out a 12V trigger input will turn this sub. on and off though a RCA cable that sends the audio signal?

OK I just reached my hand back behind the sub and there is a AC on/off main switch. it's kindof of a PITA to pull the sub out and switch the upper switch to audio sense I have to lay on the floor and pull it up and out it's kindof heavy and my RCA is very short.

I'll adjust both switchs and report back tommorow.

no there are 2 differnt switchs AC main is on the bottom and remote/ audio sense is on the top.

That is correct. With the "AC main" on and the "power" switch set to auto sense/remote the sub will come on when it sense the signal and turn off around 15 minutes after it no longer senses a signal. So it won't necessarily turn on when you turn the AVR on or it won't turn off as soon as you turn the AVR off. There has to be a source on to activate it.

pearsall001 if you would have wrote auto sense instead of auto it would have made more sense to me.
I have the AC switch set to on, other switch set to autosense sub will come on automatically no need for a 12V trigger.

I have the initial maxium volume set on my Yamaha 465 AVR set low so I have to increase the AVRs volume up to around 30 for the sub to come on. sub. turns off at exact same time the AVR goe's off.
addition observations:
1. the blue light on front of sub. now stays on starts of bright then dims a tad. I'm assumming I can turn it off.

2.I believe (can't confirm this untill room gets dark) orange standby light is turned off.
I'm thinking the subs. life will be extended being turned off compared to being in standby.?

this is a smart sub. and just think I was planning on a new AVR w/ a 12V trigger.
I'm still planning a new AVR just not right away. STB

note in post 15 how sub is kindof inside the cabinet. it's 2' from side wall.

under room optimitzer should I set the sub. to cabinet corner,mid wall or mid room.
