Diy SDA2A interconnect help

Hi, This is my first post, so hi, and thank you for this wonderful resource.

I bought these for $100 with just a few nicks and the missing cable. I hope I did okay.

The question I have is whether to wire the diy cable Big pin to Big pin and small to small, or cross them? I think I may replace them with banana plugs or something similar.

A friend told me that some models are wired big to big and other ones cross them. Is he correct, and if so, which way should mine be?

I also plan to veneer them and recap. Of common mods I have yet to notice any one changing the stuffing or bracing. Any recommendations there?

I would recommending replacing your SDA connection with a neutrik NL2 connection. You will have to enlarge the hole.

the 2a is a flipped SDA cable and not a straight through design.

There are schematics in the Vintage section if you want to double check the flipped versus straight connection.

I think a little clarity might help here. Do NOT cross the wires in the cable. The large blade wire goes to the other large blade and the small blade wire goes to the other small blade. The flip actually happens inside the speaker with your model.

I also recommend using Neutrik connectors, but prefer the NL4.

Niether blade/blade cables or pin/blade cables have crossed wires in the cable.

Awesome guys! Thanks so much. I will try to get a picture this weekend. I never expected so many replies so quickly. Glad I joined. Thanks F1nut, I almost headed down the wrong road there.

Also, to clarify, I used the wrong term, "pin", when I should have used "blade". Mine has two blades.

Good speakers have a pair myself. No receiver short of top of the line will do them justice. They need a power amp to sound their best. I have also made a new cable and rewired the inside to binding post's. The NL2or 4 work better as they will have nothing outside that could short out by touching the pair of binding post.
