Default New Benq w1070 pj and 3D glasses arriving today

Well since the jvc is broke I rushed a shipment out of the benq w1070 projector and 6 pairs of glasses from Visual Apex. I got a free 25 ft hdmi 1.4 cable and the Disney wow calibration bluray and dust cover included with the purchase with the projector. This thing is supposed to be a hot item in the projector world for price and performance features. It sucks I had to use half my funds for a new dac so I hope I am not in for a disappointing experience

I will load up some pictures of the unboxing and give a full review just in case any of you out there have been wanting to get into the game but don't want the big ticket expense. If its as good as people say then this just might be the projector for you with the 3D brightness and contrast coupled with the 144 htz 3d that has not been available outside the cinema apart from some ridiculous priced high end units

Stay tuned and I will load up the pics and my impressions of the 3D performance. My observations come from the average joe type of viewing environment as I have white walls and not the typical bat cave or dedicated theater room

Here is a link to a pro review http://www.projectorreviews.com/benq/w1070/

This projector only cost $900 but it seems that today the price has shot back up to $1099 but still can be found at $900. If you do buy make sure it has the latest 1.4 firmware version as other models has problems with the lamp cooling. I suspect the price hike has to do with the superbowl being over

If you've got the money go for it, but sure seems riducluous that you can't wait for the JVC to be fixed. I thought I was impatient.

Well I watched resident evil on this last night and I must say I was really surprised by the picture this thing threw up. I went through my reference disks that show a lot of gimmicky pop out the screen effects and it hit the mark every time 10/10 for that. The thing that me and my wife were really impressed with was the absolute clarity of the 3d image as there was no separation problems or ghosting as some say. We were amazed and then it was just game over when we added the Darbee dvp in the chain as it was just razor razor sharp and usually I have experianced a fuzz in 3D. This has got to be one of the sharpest projectors in the market as its the first time I have saw an image like this without any ringing of artifacts to degrade the image

I did a little bit of gaming before bed aftter the movie and testing and I seem quite happy so far. The lag reports has pegged it round about 20ms wich is respectable and on par with a tv. The color wheel makes it impossible for me to see the dreaded rainbow effect you hear about. On the optoma gt750 there was rainbows and if you look from one end of the screen to the other back and forth you see them bad but not so with the benq. To think the optoma 720 p was $750 vs $899 for the benq is just crazy

So for now I think the benq has the smoothest 3D I have ever saw with no flickering and no objects blur like they did with the Epson 5010 in 3D. The 3D has now gotten to the point where it seems completely natural ,smooth , flicker free, punchy, color accurate and clean with no ghosting. I never one felt the eye strain and this is in part to the 144 htz synchronization and brightness and other attributes mentioned

Well if you have been wanting a first projector I can say that next to the JVC 50000:1 pj's this should be your second choice. This projector has set a new standard in value vs performance and has the brightness to please and a beautiful native contrast that outperforms many other dlp's native contrasts that have dynamic 50,000:1 on the spec sheet. Add this to the sharpest lens you will ever see on a big image with beautiful 3D and no rainbows and I think this pj is a clear winner

Hey PFB, you still enjoying the BenQ? How well does it work with the lights on? I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a new projector myself. Had Epsons and Mitsubishis in the past and enjoyed both but the BenQ seems to be the sweet spot right now on price/performance.

I can tell you that I just love this projector sooo much, its a kind of do everything right projector. My jvc X30 does not have a full CMS and this does and its also one of the best looking out of the box. There is like 2 minor adjustments to be made to bring it to d65 kelvin. I owned alot of projectors but the smoothness of motion is perfect kinda like a plasma is to an lcd tv with motion blur

Before the benq I had the optoma 750 and the optoma is rated at 3000 lumens but the benq looks just as bright and not as washed out. For video games with ambient light it does a great job and the lag times are reasonable and very playable unlike the JVC

The sharpness on this is off the charts, I use my darbee dvp and with the epson 5010 I would notice it looked really bad if above 80 but on the benq there is no convergence issues and the darbee can be set to 160 with no issues. The epson 5010 set to 80 on the darbee looks like the benq 1070 with no darbee at all. Its the sharpest picture I have ever seen and you dont see any pixel structure from extreme close up viewing.

I saw alot of rainbows with the optoma and don't see rainbows at the cinema and I never see rainbows with the benq as its super fast
