Soundbar 3000: cannot get sound

I just installed this with a new TV, and cannot get any sound, even after following all of the troubleshooting steps listed in the online manual. No sound for 1930s music, either, or old films (i.e. pre-5.1 recordings).

The TV speakers work, and I have set the TV to external speakers to try to use the Soundbar. The TV is on PCM (it won't let me select Dolby anyway).

I use Roku and I stream laptop-to-Apple-TV without problems using the TV speakers -- I have no cable, no dish, no external antenna, no Blueray, etc.

I've rechecked all the connections (I tried both RCA analog, and digital optical), toggled the mute, etc. The Soundbar green light is steadily on, the sources are matched, the bar responds to the remote -- still no sound.

The TV is a Sumsung UN46EH6000.

Any suggestions? Please?

Thanks for posting on Polk's forum, sorry you're having a problem. The first thing I would do would be to try an analogue source directly into the SB to make sure it's working. Connect the headphone output from your laptop to the analogue input of the SB, then change the source selector on the SB to match. The soundbar works when connected to my laptop. That is a great relief!

Any suggestions about getting this to work with my TV? I dread trying Samsung's customer support, given their reputation.

Good, I'm glad the SB is working. Even though the Samsung is set to "external speakers" this could be a variable output, meaning you might have to raise the volume out of the TV into the SB. Try using the Samsung's headphone output just as you used the laptop's.
