    Default LSi15 Efficiency Rating

Does anybody here know under what circumstances Polk measures their speakers efficiency? My LSi's (15's) are rated at 88db according to Polk. Is that measured in an anechoic chamber or a "typical room"? Most mfg state how it's measured. I'm unable to confirm either way.
    Thanks...

Anechoic, with the mic at 1 mtr. I pretty certain all sensitivity measurements are done this way.

    No, they don't.

Should be the same no matter where it's measured, room, chamber, etc...

    Curiosity mostly

No it's not the same. Some manufacturers will give both ratings. An "in room" measurement will give a rating four or five points higher than in an anechoic chamber because of room reflections.

In room will only boost low frequencies, not the entire speaker. A speaker rated -3dB @ 30hz in room will be -3dB @ 40+ in an anechoic chamber. Which leads me to, many times "in room" measurements are very generous and makes me wonder if they measured the speaker in a closet.

Funny. And your right. If you don't know what the "room" that was used is like, the results are still relatively useless.

    Anyway, thanks for the replies.
