Help finding stands for rti a3

Just bought my first set of Polk speakers and am looking for nice stands to securely hod them. I got the rti a3 in cherry finish and would like stands to compliment them. Maybe even in cherry also (if avail). Also, what height do you recommend for listing to from a standard couch height?

I used the sanus nf30 stands. They come in cherry, although its lighter then the A3 finish. I use them to hold my lsi9 which is much heavier then the a3. Some people dont care for the vf30 they tend to like the sanus steel line.

If you have kids running around or large pets then getting a larger based stand that you can fill with sand or lead would be a better choice.

For me I used a 30" stand. It put the tweeters right at ear level when seated.

Sit in your chair or couch and measure from your ear to the floor. Then measure from the tweeter to the bottom of the speaker. Subtract that from the overall ear height. The difference will be the speaker stand height you need.

1 other question......my tv is hung high(above fireplace), is it better to hang my speakers up high too. (near 9' ceiling) and angle them down. OR place them at ear level on stands (even though tv is high)?

Because of my room constraints my equipment racks had to go underneath my Plasma which I wanted wall mounted. And because the wall was too short to have the fronts on stands I chose to wall mount them.

I wanted to get the center *under* the plasma - so that meant raising up the plasma a bit.

So -when it came time to locate the front speakers, I chose to locate them a bit higher up than ear level and angle them down a bit to compensate.

Perfect or recommended layout? No.

You do what you gotta do to make things work and compromise along the way.

It worked just fine!

That's what I thought. Seems to be the only option. Unfortunately I need to mount these so high (7.5'), that with these mounts only allowing a 7degree tilt, the sound will do right over my head. Have you heard of any other mounts that are compatible with these speakers in hopes of allowing a greater tilt? If not, maybe ill post a new topic asking other members.
Ps-how do you like the speakers? I'm upgrading from a Bose 1-2-3.

I have since moved on to different bookshelves just cuz the bug to upgrade had bitten - not that I thought the RTiA3s were deficient.

While I had them - I thought the RTiA3 did a great job with movies and a darn good job with music as well.

Keep points - get a good sub to go with them - and get a good amp to drive them.

I got a bic k12 and still need to buy the avr. I'm looking at onkyo tx-nr616, denon avr1612 or 1613. Thoughts? Any recommendations on receiver?

You can always upgrade later - so you get what your budget allows.

For the avr - at least get one that has audio pre-out connections so that you can add an external amp later. You'll find this an important feature for your upgrade path.

This will definitely be a step up for the RTiA3s - practically any speaker is going to benefit from a good external amp instead of relying on an avr that is taxed driving 5 or more speakers.

Back to wall mounts.....I found these. They offer 35degrees of tilt instead of 7degrees
