Vintage Polk Speaker worth keeping?

Folks,

I have a full 7.1 system that has been unused for several years: RT12s, RT10s, RT5s, CS225, FX500, FX1000 speakers which my wife is making me get rid of. I was planning on using them in another room but she says they are two big and must get of her storage space. I am bummed out because I upgraded all the tweeters to the tri laminate so they all match, and they are in great condition. I can likely hide them over at my brothers, but worried he will ruin them and not really appreciate the build quality (he has no concept how to care for anything and has gone through several cheap speakers).

Do you guys think I should just part ways with them and sell them? Is there a market for these vintage speakers? I believe they are still better than some of the newer ones produced today. Would like to hear from some old school polkies as well that know these speakers....

The RT series for the money is arguably the best line that Polk has put out, especially for home theater. With that said, you can store them at my house rent free :)

Have you had this system for a while? If so, why is your wife miffed now? Negotiate and put the system where "you" want to!

Well I obviously have been away from the Polk world for a while. I actually replaced my 7.1 system years ago with some Monitor Audio Gold series 7.1 system (all except the Polk PSW650 still have that in the system!). So my wife is basically saying that I need to get rid of this second set. She attempted to donate them on several occasions believe it or not! I've got some caution tape around them now in the original boxes, and she is basically saying if I don't get rid of them, I have no chance of buying any new electronic gear! Techincally I did negotiate if she let me build my HT I would get rid of them 2 years ago, but I am having a hard time coming to terms with this. I keep thinking we'll put it in a vacation home and I will be bummed if I don't have them when that happens.

Thanks about the info for classifieds, I guess that makes sense to ensure people are legit, obviously I have not posted much. At any rate if I do sell them, I think I would prefer local sale to avoid shipping, I was thinking posting them on audigon and specifying local pickup.

I am curious what the build quality of current Polks are, I have not kept up with the line, are they made in the US or overseas now?

I know most manufacturers claim they are designed in the US but assembled elsewhere, does this matter to anyone? I suppose build quality is still good?

Just about all new Polks are made over seas but designed here. The build quality of the top lines, RTI-A, LSI and LSiM series is very good, though. Take a look at Polk's ebay site for some nice buys!

Well I would sell them and at least get some cash. I think the ones made over here arr better and they are all made over in China now. But really you need to find her weakness with mine it is Miles Davis and Barbara Streisand, I can do anything I want

Yes I think I finally had to put these up for sale on craigslist in Los Angeles. If you guys can advise if these are good prices, they all have the boxes as well:

RT12 w/ Trilaminate tweeter upgrade $200
RT5s $75
f/X 1000 $250
F/X 500i $100
CS 400i $175
CS 225 $75

I think they are priced to sell, but I have not found any online so I have no clue, ideally I would sell them all for a package price, but that seems hard to do. Wife is threatening to donate them!

Let me know if you think they are priced too high polkies...

I paid $300 for RT12's with a Harman Kardon AVR 100 and a 5 disk matching changer(8350) If that helps
