is it OK to store speakers in a hot attic?

I have a pair of Polk bookshelf speakers inside the orginal box that I'm currently not using.

don't have much storage room except for the attic.

I live in the South during the summer it hots very hot in the attic so

is it OK to store speakers in a hot attic or will the heat ruin the speakers?

Probably not a good idea to store anything in an attic. I know folks do it all the time but personally, I wouldn't.

Not a good idea, though car audio gets subjected to all kinds of temp extremes & doesn't die overnight. I'd be most concerned about the heat loosening the adhesive on the vinyl veneer.

I'd say it depends on the maximum temp experienced. Your attic might never get as hot as a Baghdad living room in the summer months. If you've got drivers with the miserable failure glue, you need to JB Weld them, no matter where they're situated!

Storing speakers in an extreme storage condition like that is never a good idea. Might want to try and make room in a temperature controlled closet. If this can't be done, the advice to sell and reacquire another set later is something I would entertain if I were you.

Have to agree. Adhesives, adhesives, adhesives. If you want to F-up a speaker, put it in about 120-30+ degree temps for a summer then bring it down hook it up blast it for a few minutes and watch "bad" things happen!

Don't do it. I store all my stuff either in closets in the house or in a finished basement storage area.

yeah I'm thinking it's not whorth taking a chance and bake these speakers.

I guess this also rules out mounting them in the attic"s eve
directly above a outside vent and use a a patio zone.

as far as selling seams like I can't give these M30s & CS1 center away.

They are nice sounding speakers I could eventualley use (when I get a 7 channel amp.) as back surrounds and back center. I just don't want the to polute my Def. Techs. in the current room size is 12' widex 14'lenghtX8'hieght kindof small for 6.1

maybe a larger room they won't polute the DTs. and can be used as rear fill effects speakers.

I would think it would not be very good for the foam or rubber surrounds on the speakers , this would accelerate the rotting out of the surrounds .
