'Political Correctness'.........defined
"A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."
Still trying to convince my wife that I *NEED* a pair of McIntosh MC30s for my birthday.
I am resisting the temptation to make awful, tasteless "tube virgin" comments...
FWIW, my favorite tube primer is this one:

... and my favorite all-around source of info on vacuum tube devices (with a focus on hifi) is Pete Millett's amazing resource at:
www.tubebooks.org
For intro material, I'd suggest downloading these books (they're moderately large PDFs, and the servers are sort of... deliberate... in their download pace; but it's worth the wait!).

Tons of other good stuff on Pete's site at all levels including way beyond me...
