In Wall Speakers in Converted Church

We are converting a small, deconsecrated church into a community center. I'd like to have Friday movie nights. I don't need audiophile quality and my budget is not expansive, but I would like it to sound good. The space is approximately 46' long by 25' wide -- 13' ceilings. By the time we are done, it will have hardwood floors. I'd like to use Polk in-wall speakers -- two rectangular in back, two round ceiling speakers on the sides, two rectangular on the sides of the front, a center speaker in the center of the front and a free-standing sub-woofer. My question is: what Polk in-wall speakers would be suitable for such a large space, without breaking the bank? I haven't selected a home theater receiver yet, so I have some flexibility in that regard, again subject to a reasonable budget. Many thanks for any help on this.

I would recommend against what you propose. In order to have coherent sound from front to back, you would need to have time delays for the mid and back position speakers, otherwise you will have a sort of echo by timing error. (Although perhaps AVRs can compensate?) Volume levels probably would not meet expectations either--that's seriously large volume.

Why not use something intended for the purpose, like Electro Voice Sx100+

Put two of those up front, correctly aimed & at proper height and you will fill the hall nicely. I would expect multi-channel in that space to require the sort of stuff they put in regular theaters--and at serious prices. (But I could be entirely wrong too!)

I tend to agree with Jim. Your room is approaching theater size and would best be served with pro audio/Cinema speaker/amplifier choices. I have installed multi channel theater with ceiling/wall speakers in a room that size before, but we specified an seating area within the room that didn't take up the entire space, leaving the rest of the room to have ambient sound from the system.

I am currently installing a 5.1 system in a 500 seat high school auditorium, and using JBL AC lineup http://www.jblpro.com/catalog/genera...?PId=162&MId=2for fronts/center duty. Engineering a dual purpose room system takes some planning. Let me know if I can help you clarify what you might need.

I'm in same kind of situation , We are converting this hall which is 80 feet long and 58ft wide and ceiling is 22 ft. There will be no chair seating area. the floor is carpeted. would you please suggest us. I know JBL 2 way loudspeaker are good choice here, but how many we need for this area. Are there any compatible loudspeaker which are not as expensive as JBL?
