Repair or Replace ?

I have a PSW404 that is 5 years old. The sub stopped working a few weeks ago. I was going to just replace the amp but a new replacement amp is 224.00. When I purchased the amp new it was only 299.00. I have a PSW110 as a stand-in but now the question is what to do with the 404. at 224. for the amp I might as well just buy a second 110 at 249.00. I just hate the idea of taking the 404 to the trash dump !

I wish I had saw the 505 before I spent 250.00 for the PSW110. It is a very weak sub compaired to the old
PSW404 I had before. I will be sure to come here first before doing that again........thanks !

Can you still return your PSW110? $250 for a PSW110 is almost full price.

i dont think I can return it, I got it right before the superbowl when the 404 went up. the 110 was the only sub that best buy had. I have already gotton rid of the box and everything !

Bestbuy has 30 return policy but i don't think they take it back w/o box.

Thompty, you really missed out. Best Buy had the PSW110 on sale at least a few times (over Christmas and since then) for $125. If you're even thinking of spending $250 on another one, please save up a few extra bucks (not many since no tax or s/h charges) and get yourself a DSWPRO550Wi from Newegg. They often go on sale for $289-$299.

The 550 is leagues ahead of the 110.

Polk CS recommened the 505 instead of replacing the 404 amp 1

Replace, but with something bigger and badder!! Try Epik, SVS, Hsu, etc..

Thanks, bigger and badder is what I am looking for. it was my mistake for not doing the reasearch. could never go from a 404 with a 10-inch high excursion polymer and 200 watt amp to a 110 with a 10-inch composite and only 100 watt amp. like i said eariler, I will always come here first for advice. after 2 months, the 110 is in my wifes flea market bin !

Well, what I finally came up with was to add two PSW505's to my system along with keeping the PSW110. I was disappointed with the 110 compared with my old 404 when it came to movies. the 110 did not have the impact that I was use to when watching a movie but when I moved it to the corner of the room I was pleased with the way it sounded when listening to music in the 2-channel stereo mode so I use the 110 for music and the two 505's for movies and now I am pleased.
