RTiA surrounds question

First post, greets all!

I have RTiA5's for my main, CSiA6 center (new receiver by weeks end with either 105 or 125w driven per channel depending on which receiver I go with) and Klipsch RW-12D sub and need to add surrounds. Between RTiA1/3 or FXi4/6, I've decided to go with the FX series for my surrounds.

Based on my fronts/center/sub combo, would FXiA4's suffice or, should I go with FXiA6's?? I may have run a cross a good deal on FXiA4's for $200 used in great condition if that helps make a decision. If buying new, question is same......

Welcome to the club HABE. I think, and many others may disagree, that the FX series of speakers with bie/di pole options will better suit your HT. Others may chime in here with something for sale but check e-bay and your local craigslist. On your receiver power is critical so get the most you can afford...and it should have "pre-outs" for future expansion. Used is a good place to go when looking for a receiver. Many of the old top of the line units costing 2k to 5+k can be had for a few hundred expecially if they do not have HDMI. I don't feel HDMI is essential in a receiver. Your blue ray can go direct to your tv and most other stuf can be hooked up with other means. Good luck, welcome and report back. What part of the world are you located?

Fxi4's will work just fine, I think you'll be happy with them over the a1/a3's. I also agree money towards your receiver will benefit your system MUCH more than bigger surrounds, and that future proofing your system by purchasing a receiver with preouts is always a good idea in the long run. I recently purchased a set of RTIA 7's, with csia6 center,dswpro550wi and decided to use the fxia6's for surrounds. My Yamaha Aventage rxa720 reciever is fine but I should have done a bit more research so I would have had pre outs. I ran the YPAO for intitial setup then turned all the center, fronts and surrounds to small to get more bass to the sub set it to 80hz. My surrounds are behind me and set them to bipole. That little switch makes a difference. I am very happy with everything but wonder for my room size if I could have downsized to the 5's, 4's and 4's. I had a budget of $2500 and met it. I went to a cool high end store in Dayton that tried to get me into to Sonus Faber Venere 2.0s and an Integra avr but it was over budget and didn't give me a complete 5.1 setup. Granted they sounded fantastic but I was kind of upset when you give a salesperson a budget they can't stay in it. The shop sold other products from NHT, Paradigm, PSP, Monitor audio, Pioneer and Sony ES. I think the Polks gave me a very good bang for the buck. Either surround should do nicely may come down to price and space. Either way enjoy.

About the new receiver.....

I'm down to either:

Pioneer SC-1222-K ---- 120 Wpc Class D3 amps, advanced MCACC, pre-outs ($529 on NE right now)
Denon 2313CI ---- 105 Wpc, Audyssey XT, no pro-outs ($650 best quoted price so far)

I'd really like to go Denon 3313CI for the pre-outs and 125 Wpc but it's above my current price point. Denon xx13 receivers will be offered at significant discounts in about a month or so but don't want to wait another month or more.

Anyone with thoughts/direct comparison on advanced MCACC vs Audyssey XT? Audyssey XT will EQ the sub but not allow any further tweaking vs MCACC which doesn't do much to the sub but does allow user tweaking.......

@ habe, welcome to the club!! Great choice to go with the FX series.

If you plan to stay with the RTiA5's as your mains, the FXiA4's should suit you just fine. If you plan on upgrading your mains to A7's or even A9's, you may consider going with the FXiA6's.

Used is fine and dandy so long as the speakers have been taken care of and you get to demo them before making your purchase.
