trash or treasure?

Have ended up with a Marantz 6100 model tt. My tech is looking at it now , needs belt and waiting to hear ( other than a cleaning, adl.. ect and of course a good caidge) what it may need to function as it should. However is it worth messing with? As above trash or treasure or in the middle? ( for a starter tt.) btw i have 0.00 dollars in it so far other than the beld for further testing.

Had the higher model for awhile. Can't remember if it was a 6200 or 6300. Sound was nice with an empire 2000 cartridge. Alot of Marantz fan boys out there that drive the prices up on them. Sold mine for $200. One of my favorite as far as vintage table looks go. Not real wood veneer, just vinyl but the combo with the silver was pretty. Should be a very nice starter table, especially for your inital investment.

Ya investment was rather small. LOL it may be worth cleaning it up for grins and see if im willing to go over and flip vynal again every 30 min. or so, lazy as i am. I have an old box of lp's i packed up in ( according to the sharpie pen writting on the box) 1977. Lots of good vintage vynal to re-discover maybe. Worst case it might LOOK good next to the 2265B.

i guess it worth putting a few bucks into restoring it.that blows my mind. It was thrown in whin i errr bought the 2265b.that deal just keeps getting better.

Yea almost all of the 1970-1980 models with the standard S tonearm and standard headshell mounts are doing well.

Decent entry-level, utilitarian CEC-made turntable; nothing special but perfectly serviceable (and, yes, they go for stoopit money on certain well-known auction sites). I found a nice one at the dump some years back which I gave to a friend of my daughter's.

Just heard from my tech and it will be ready to come home next week. New belt gone thru and all adj. Cant wait to try it out. Back to vinyl, maybe? Gotta see if i can stand getting up every 20 min to flip a disc. Its a sad comentary on old fart. But if it sounda good enough......... I just may have to suffer through it. LOLoh ya i added a new (to me ) DAC to my bedroom sys. See sig.
